ABOUT THE ROLE This is a senior leadership role at the centre of Australia''s Defence capability, overseeing the delivery of complex Combat Systems engineering outcomes on a major naval sustainment program. Youll take ownership of engineering performance across a critical portfolio, leading teams, shaping technical direction, and ensuring systems are delivered safely, efficiently, and to operational standards. This role suits someone who thrives in highaccountability environments and enjoys balancing technical depth with people leadership. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Leading and coordinating Combat Systems engineering activities across the program Acting as the key interface between engineering teams, stakeholders, and end users Driving engineering planning, resourcing, and delivery against program objectives Overseeing technical governance, including configuration management and design reviews Managing external suppliers and ensuring alignment to technical and schedule requirements Building team capability through mentoring, coaching, and structured development Promoting a strong safety culture and continuous improvement mindset SKILLS & EXPERIENCE NEEDED Degree-qualified Engineer (Systems, Electrical, Mechanical or similar) Must be an Australian citizen who can obtain and maintain an Australian Defence Security Clearance to NV1. Strong background in Combat Systems engineering within Defence environments Demonstrated experience leading and developing engineering teams Solid understanding of the engineering lifecycle, change management, and technical assurance Exposure to maritime or naval systems Experience supporting or working alongside Defence customers Previous experience as a Weapons Electrical Officer in the Navy or experience providing support to weapons systems on ships is considered advantageous All applications should include your resume as a word document.
