Two Giraffes is a Sydney-based creative video agency. We partner with brands to create thoughtful, distinctive video work, from live action to animation to everything in between. Our team is small, senior, and deeply invested in craft, and we''re growing. The opportunity We''re looking for a 2D Animator who can illustrate to lead our animation craft and own animated projects from end to end. This is a rare role. The person we hire will be the creative driver behind our 2D animated work, with genuine ownership of the process from initial client conversations all the way to final delivery. You''ll shape the visual direction, design the look, build the storyboards, illustrate the assets, and animate the final piece. It''s the full arc of the work, and we want it in one pair of hands. This role exists because we believe the best animation comes from a single creative vision carried from start to finish. We''re not looking for someone to execute briefs handed down from elsewhere. We want a true creative lead who is excited to sit at the table with our clients and shape what the work becomes. What you''ll do Lead 2D animated projects end to end, from concept and style development through to storyboard, illustration, animation, and final delivery. Collaborate directly with clients in creative discovery sessions. You''ll listen to their goals, translate them into visual ideas, and pitch directions that bring their brand to life. Develop original visual styles tailored to each project. We don''t have a single house aesthetic, and the variety is part of what makes the work exciting. Build storyboards, animatics, and style frames that align clients and inspire confidence in the creative direction. Produce motion graphics work across our broader studio output, including explainers, brand films, social content, kinetic typography, and title sequences. Manage your own project timelines, revision rounds, and final deliverables across formats. You can see examples of our work here: [link to animation page] What we''re looking for 3 to 6 years of professional experience in motion design and 2D animation, ideally in a studio or agency environment. A reel that demonstrates genuine stylistic range. We want to see you adapt your aesthetic across different brands, tones, and visual languages. Strong illustration fundamentals. You design the assets you animate, and your visual identity is part of what you bring to each project. Expert command of After Effects, with strong proficiency in Illustrator and Photoshop. Some working knowledge of cell animation and 2D tools (Procreate Dreams, TVPaint, Toon Boom, Rough Animator, or similar) is a plus. Confidence in clientfacing creative conversations. You can pitch ideas, receive feedback constructively, and advocate for the work when it matters. A strong eye for the fundamentals: timing, composition, colour, and typography. The ability to work independently and drive projects forward with minimal oversight. Familiarity with the current landscape and a willingness to experiment is a real asset. At the same time, your craft needs to stand entirely on its own. A number of our clients prefer projects with no AI involvement, and we need to deliver original, fully humanmade work to a high standard for them every time. The ability to take a piece through to a polished, mixed final delivery is highly valued. Working knowledge of 3D tools (Cinema 4D, Blender) for hybrid 2D/3D projects.
