Job Description Shed Supervisor (Fresh Truffle Farm) Position Title: Shed Supervisor Employment Type: Full-time / Seasonal Reports To: Farm Manager Location: Truffle Hill, Manjimup Position Overview Manjimup Artisan Truffles is seeking to employ a Shed Supervisor to lead and direct a small team during the fresh truffle season (May - August). There is potential for all year-round farm work depending on the applicant. The Shed Supervisor oversees all post-harvest operations within the grading and packing shed on a fresh truffle farm. This role ensures that freshly harvested truffles are received, cleaned, sorted, graded, stored, packed, and dispatched to the highest standards of quality and food safety. The Shed Supervisor coordinates casual staff, maintains workflow efficiency, ensures accurate record-keeping, and upholds the farms reputation for premium-quality produce. Key Responsibilities 1. Post-Harvest Handling & Quality Control Receive freshly harvested truffles from the orchard team and log harvest weights and batch information. Oversee washing, brushing, trimming, and final presentation of truffles. Grade truffles accurately according to farm standards (size, aroma, maturity, defects, quality tiers). Inspect all produce to ensure only premium-quality truffles are sent to customers. Maintain strict hygiene and temperature-controlled storage conditions. 2. Packing & Order Fulfilment Coordinate packing according to customer specifications (wholesale, retail, hospitality, export). Ensure accurate labelling, traceability, and documentation for every order. Manage dispatch timelines and work closely with couriers/logistics providers. Prevent wastage by applying correct storage and handling procedures. 3. Staff Supervision & Workflow Coordination Lead, train, and supervise shed staff and casual seasonal workers. Organise daily tasks to meet harvest and order schedules. Monitor performance and ensure safe, efficient working practices. Foster a positive, respectful workplace culture. 4. Inventory & Record-Keeping Maintain accurate stock records of graded truffles, waste, off-grades, and dispatch volumes. Track packaging materials, cleaning supplies, and order fulfilment resources. Complete compliance records for traceability, food safety, and QA programs. 5. Food Safety, Compliance & Cleanliness Ensure shed operations meet all food-handling regulations and on-farm biosecurity policies. Oversee daily cleaning, sanitation logs, and equipment maintenance. Prepare for audits or inspections as required. Skills & Experience Required Experience in post-harvest or packing shed operations (fresh produce preferred; truffles optional). Strong attention to detail, especially around quality assessment. Leadership or team-supervision experience. Knowledge of food safety standards (HACCP, FreshCare, or similar). Ability to work in cool environments for extended periods. Strong organisational, time-management, and record-keeping skills. Comfortable with basic digital systems (spreadsheets, order forms, inventory tools). Personal Attributes Reliable, punctual, and consistent. Calm under pressure during peak harvest periods. High personal integrity and pride in product presentation. Positive communication style and ability to work collaboratively. Adaptable to seasonal workflow and changing priorities. Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 1520 kg safely. Comfortable standing for long periods during grading and packing. Able to work in cold storage areas when required.
