About the Role Location: AustraliaCentennial is recruiting for aSenior Mining Engineer - Planningto join our Technical Services Team atMandalong Mine .This role will lead the development, optimisation and delivery of mine plans that enable safe, compliant and efficient underground coal extraction. You will provide technical leadership across short, medium and long-term planning horizons while supporting operational teams to achieve production, safety, geotechnical and environmental outcomes.As an effective member of the mine management team, you will ensure activities within your area of responsibility align with the overall best interests of the mine. This includes monitoring systems and business processes, identifying improvement opportunities, and implementing practical solutions that enhance operational performance.Conveniently located in the Lake Macquarie region, a short drive from Newcastle and the Central Coast, this is an excellent opportunity to work in an underground longwall-based mining operation.ResponsibilitiesDevelop and maintain short, medium and long-term mine plans aligned with the Life of Mine strategyProduce accurate development and production schedules incorporating ventilation, strata, infrastructure and equipment constraintsConduct panel sequencing, horizon planning and resource optimisation studiesIntegrate geotechnical, geological, survey and operational data into planning outputsPrepare detailed development designs, secondary support layouts, infrastructure designs and equipment deployment plansCollaborate with geotechnical engineers on roadway support, pillar design, barrier assessments and fall of ground controlsMonitor actual performance versus plan, analyse variances and recommend corrective actionsProvide engineering input into risk assessments, change management processes and project reviewsEnsure mine plans comply with relevant legislation, WHS requirements and Australian StandardsLead technical investigations into operational issues, incidents and improvement opportunitiesMentor and develop junior engineers through structured guidance and competency developmentPresent mine plans, schedules and engineering studies to leadership teams and external stakeholdersOfferingsPermanent full-time positionAttractive salary packageCareer development and training opportunitiesSalary sacrifice optionsCorporate Health Insurance discountsQualificationsBachelor''s degree in Mining Engineering or equivalentMinimum 5-10 years'' experience in underground coal operationsStrong capability in underground coal mine planning across short to long-term horizonsAdvanced competence in mine design and scheduling software such as Xpac, Ventsim and AutoCADComprehensive knowledge of coal mining legislation, WHS requirements and Australian StandardsDemonstrated leadership, mentoring and project management skillsSound computer literacy skills and proficiency in mine planning softwareCommitment to site safety, operational practices and production targets#J-18808-Ljbffr
