Seeking an experienced Maintenance Leader to join a globally recognised industry leading manufacturer based in Unanderra Site-based maintenance leadership role, combining planning & scheduling with front-line supervision of plant maintenance (50/50 split) Leading Illawarra-based manufacturer, producing essential refractory products for the global steelmaking and industrial sectors Seeking an experienced Maintenance leader for a key role for Shinagawa Refractories Australasia, a leading Illawarra based manufacturer, and this innovative and progressive business produces essential products for the global steelmaking and other industries. Shinagawa Refractoriesemploys approximately 100 people in Australasia, with manufacturing operations in Unanderra NSW, Kwinana WA, and New Zealand. The Unanderra plant is a materials handling & processing operation consisting of crushers, screens, blenders, mixers, conveyors and packaging equipment. The site includes a mix of legacy and modern equipment, requiring planned, preventative and breakdown maintenance, as well as ongoing plant improvement projects. About the Role In this Maintenance Coordinator role, you will lead, coordinate and prioritise the day-to-day activities of the maintenance team (4 Fitters, 1 Boilermaker, 1 Apprentice, plus electrical support). You will operate in a balanced role, taking ownership of maintenance planning and scheduling while remaining closely connected to on-site execution. Key responsibilities include: Plan and supervise maintenance of all plant & equipment in a safe and timely manner Own the planning and scheduling of maintenance activities through MEX (CMMS), including labour, spares and downtime coordination Coordinate and direct daily maintenance activities, ensuring work is prioritised and executed efficiently Work closely with Production to align maintenance schedules with operational requirements Lead, support and develop the maintenance team Coordinate inventory and spare parts required for maintenance activities Ensure maintenance activities meet production, service and WHS targets About You Trade qualified in a relevant engineering discipline (mechanical or electrical) Experience in maintenance supervision within an industrial/manufacturing environment Strong technical understanding of plant maintenance and equipment upgrades/installations Experience using CMMS (MEX preferred) for planning and scheduling Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to coordinate and prioritise work Solid computer, literacy and numeracy skills This role suits a hands-on Supervisor or Leading Hand looking to step into a more structured planning and coordination role, while remaining closely connected to site execution.This is an opportunity to join a well-established, stable and progressive business offering a long-term career in the Illawarras heavy industrial sector.
