Perform loading and unloading of freight using suitable equipment and machinery such as tailgate lifters, pallet jacks, tipping systems, and forklifts where appropriately licensed, ensuring all operations are completed safely and effectively. Adhere to all workplace health and safety policies during loading and unloading activities, including the correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE), safe lifting practices, and compliance with site-specific safety protocols. Carry out routine vehicle inspections and operational checks before, during, and after transport runs to confirm vehicles remain safe, roadworthy, and compliant with company procedures and transport legislation. Assess and confirm load weights to ensure compliance with legal carrying capacities and axle load regulations, while ensuring loads are evenly distributed for safe vehicle operation and stability. Properly secure, stack, and protect freight using straps, restraints, tarpaulins, chains, and other load-securing equipment to minimise the risk of damage, movement, or loss during transportation. Review and confirm transport paperwork, manifests, delivery records, and load documentation to ensure freight details, quantities, destinations, and customer instructions are accurate before commencing deliveries. Examine goods at collection and delivery points to identify any visible damage, shortages, or inconsistencies, and report any issues in line with company procedures. Obtain required customer acknowledgements, signatures, and proof of delivery documentation following completion of deliveries, ensuring all records are completed accurately and submitted promptly. Maintain effective communication with dispatch teams, supervisors, and customers regarding delivery updates, scheduling changes, delays, or operational concerns throughout transport activities. Qualification & experience Current Australian Heavy Vehicle Licence (HR, HC or MC) Certificate II in Driving Operations or comparable hands-on experience in heavy vehicle operations is desirable At least 12 years of proven experience operating heavy vehicles or trucks Good understanding of transport regulations, road safety obligations, and compliance standards Capable of working autonomously while ensuring timely completion of deliveries and transport schedules Physically capable of performing loading, unloading, and other manual handling duties Effective verbal communication skills with a professional and reliable approach to work Demonstrated dedication to workplace health, safety, and safe driving practices About Company NP & SONS TRANSPORT PTY LTD is an established WesternAustralian transport business providing reliable freight and logistics services to commercial clients.
