INTRODUCTION TO THE COLLEGE Mother Teresa Catholic College is a Catholic K-12 co-educational College with a current student population of 1,750 students. The College is located in the rapidly growing suburb of Baldivis, situated about 60 kilometres south of Perth in the City of Rockingham. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES The role of Education Assistant includes the following tasks:Assist with the preparation and maintenance of the learning environment as required under teacher direction in the delivery of planned teaching and learning programs, including IEP/CAP; Work with individual and small groups of students, under the direction of the teacher; Assist with the arrival and departure of students; Support the maintenance and use of specialised equipment; Assist the teacher with the general care, wellbeing and supervision of students, including attending to students with minor illnesses or students in need of minor first aid; Assist in the care, monitoring and supervision of out of class activities which may include before and after school, recess and lunch time periods, sport, excursions and camps; Monitor and assist students in work experience and liaise with employers; Attend meetings and/or professional development as required by the Principal; Provide support in regular mainstream classes; Assist in adaptation of classroom material for use by students in the education support program; Provide feedback on students progress, behaviour and difficulties in all classrooms; Assist students to access all areas of school/classroom as necessary and appropriate; Assist with the collection, preparation and distribution of resources; Assist with care and supervision of students outdoor activities as directed by the teacher. Other duties as directed by the Principal. SELECTION CRITERIA Successful applicants would need to:Have a strong and active personal faith commitment and willingness to support the Catholic ethos of the school Be passionate about teaching and committed to continuous professional growth and development Be dedicated to the advancement of each students holistic development and committed to providing the highest standard of care and education Be willing to be involved in school and parish life, including involvement in out-of-school activities Be flexible, enthusiastic and able to work collaboratively with colleagues and parents Demonstrate a high degree of professionalism, communication skills and proficiency in integrating technology into the daily classroom environment Knowledge of and willingness to embrace and facilitate inquiry-learning QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED Certificate 3 or higher in Education Support On appointment, successful applicants will require a Working with Children Check.
