Job details Location: 555 Ross Creek Rd Kingsport, NS B0P 1H0 Salary: $39,500 to $40,500 annually (to be negotiated) / 35 hours per week Terms of employment: Permanent, full time Work must be completed at the physical location; remote work is not an option. Work setting Staff accommodation available Rural area Willing to relocate (relocation costs not covered) Cafeteria, camp, school or educational institution available Responsibilities Estimate amounts and costs of supplies and food items. Maintain records of food costs, consumption, sales, and inventory. Analyze operating costs and other data. Demonstrate new cooking techniques and equipment to cooking staff. Supervise activities of specialist chefs, chefs, cooks, and other kitchen workers. Create new recipes. Instruct cooks in preparation, cooking, garnishing and presentation of food. Prepare and cook complete meals and specialty foods for events such as banquets. Requisition food and kitchen supplies. Arrange for equipment purchases and repairs. Consult with clients regarding weddings, banquets and specialty functions. Plan and direct food preparation and cooking activities across several restaurants. Plan menus and ensure food meets quality standards. Prepare dishes for customers with food allergies or intolerances. Recruit and hire staff. Train staff in preparation, cooking and handling of food. Lead/instruct individuals. Supervision Staffing level: 5-10 people. Credentials WHMIS Certificate. Food Safety Certificate. Experience and specialization International experience. Glutenfree and vegan specialties. Security and safety Criminal record check required. Transportation/travel information Own transportation and valid drivers licence required. Public transportation not available. Work conditions and physical capabilities Fastpaced environment; work under pressure. Handling heavy loads; physically demanding. Combination of sitting, standing, walking. Standing for extended periods; bending, crouching, kneeling.
