Koori Preschools offer a free, playbased early childhood education program for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children aged from birth to five years. The program supports childrens early learning, wellbeing, cultural identity and helps them build connections to culture and community. Koori Preschools operating within selected ACT public schools. As a Koori Preschool Assistant, you will work closely with educators and school communities to support childrens learning and include cultural knowledge in everyday preschool activities. About the role: As a Koori Preschool Assistant working in one of our Koori preschools, you will: Support in the planning, development and implementation of educational programs under the director of the teacher. Promote understanding and appreciation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories, cultures and perspectives within the preschool and broader school community. Support behaviour, social skills development, and approved learning or specialist programs in collaboration with teachers and support services Contribute to team planning, resource preparation and general administrative support to meet educational and operational needs Build positive relationships with students, families and community to support engagement in student learning, including involvement in educational decisions and transition processes. Support student wellbeing, including physical, emotional and personal hygiene care for students where required. Assist in maintaining safe, inclusive and culturally respectful learning spaces. What were looking for: Relevant qualifications such as Certificate III in Education Support (or working towards one). Strong communication and interpersonal skillsand the ability to work effectively in a team environment. A caring, studentcentred approach, with a genuine interest in supporting children and young people in their learning. Effective teamwork and reliability, with good organisational and timemanagement skills. An approachable personality and a professional attitude in a school environment. Eligibility requirements: This is an Identified position for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples A Certificate III in Education Support (or working towards one). A valid ACT Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) registration (or eligibility to apply) Australian citizenship, permanent residency or a valid working visa.
