Your new companyYou will be joining a local council in the Hunter Valley region, working as part of an established Environmental Health team in a fast paced regulatory environment. The team delivers a structured inspection program and is looking for experienced support through to the end of the financial year.Your new role The role will focus mainly on food premises inspections, with some involvement in broader public health work and complaint response. You will step into a busy operational environment where you can work autonomously and take ownership of your workload from the start. Key responsibilities include: Carrying out routine and risk based food premises inspections Assessing compliance with the Food Act 2003, Food Regulation and Food Standards Code Issuing statutory notices, including improvement and prohibition notices where required Managing food safety and public health complaints, including investigations Providing clear guidance and advice to food business operators Maintaining accurate records of inspections, enforcement actions and case work in council systems What you''ll need to succeedTo be considered for this position, you will have: A qualification in Environmental Health or similar that allows appointment as an Authorised Officer Previous experience conducting food safety inspections within a local government setting Confidence working independently and managing competing priorities Experience applying practical and proportionate enforcement approaches Strong communication skills, both written and verbal A current Class C driver licence What you''ll get in return Immediate start Full time hours through to the end of the financial year Competitive hourly rate depending on experience Opportunity to contribute to a well established inspection program Straightforward onboarding for experienced Environmental Health Officers What you need to do nowIf you are interested in this opportunity, click apply now or send your CV to *************@hays.com.au.
