About the role This position will play an important role in supporting Coastal Group Engineerings expansion into trailer manufacturing under the Australian Road Vehicle Standards framework. The successful candidate will work closely with management and workshop teams to assist with the engineering, compliance, certification, and approval processes required to design and manufacture heavy vehicle trailers for commercial operation across Australia. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a hands-on environment and wants the opportunity to build systems, processes, and a manufacturing division from the ground up. What you''ll be doing Design and engineer heavy vehicle trailers in accordance with ADR and NHVR requirements Lead the Vehicle Type Approval (VTA) process under the Road Vehicle Standards Act Develop, maintain and revise drawings, specifications, and documentation Conduct structural assessments and load calculations Oversee brake system compliance and certification requirements Establish manufacturing quality control and compliance systems Liaise with engineers, certifiers, suppliers, and regulatory bodies Assist in developing standardised trailer platforms for future fleet production Work alongside fabrication teams to ensure build consistency and compliance What we''re looking for Degree qualified Mechanical Engineer or similar relevant qualification Proven experience within heavy vehicle, trailer, automotive, or transport manufacturing industries Strong understanding of Australian Design Rules (ADR), NHVR requirements, and heavy vehicle compliance Experience with trailer design, certification, and manufacturing systems Knowledge of Vehicle Type Approvals (VTA) and Road Vehicle Standards legislation highly regarded Strong project management and documentation skills Experience developing compliance systems and quality assurance processes CAD and engineering design software experience Ability to work both strategically and hands-on within an operational workshop environment Why join the CGE Team?
