We''re looking for expert mathematicians to formalize advanced proofs in Lean 4 working at the exact boundary of what modern proof assistants can express, verify, and automate. This is a fully remote, flexible contract role built for mathematicians who find beauty in precision and satisfaction in making a machine understand a human argument. No AI background required just serious mathematical depth and handson experience with formal proof systems. Organization: Alignerr Type: Hourly Contract Location: Remote Commitment: 1040 hours/week What You''ll Do Translate informal mathematical proofs into clean, structured, machineverifiable Lean 4 formalizations Analyze proofs across domains identifying hidden assumptions, gaps, and formalizable substructures Work on problems that push beyond the current capabilities of automated provers, mapping the frontier of formal verification Collaborate with researchers to design and refine strategies for improving formal verification pipelines Develop highly readable, reproducible proof scripts aligned with mathematical best practices and proof assistant idioms Provide expert guidance on proof decomposition, lemma selection, and structuring techniques Investigate where automated provers break down and articulate precisely why complexity, missing lemmas, insufficient libraries, and beyond Formalize classical proofs and compare machineverifiable structures against their textbook counterparts Who You Are Master''s degree or higher in Mathematics, Logic, Theoretical Computer Science, or a closely related field Strong foundation in rigorous proof writing across areas such as algebra, analysis, topology, logic, or discrete mathematics Handson experience with Lean (Lean 3 or Lean 4), Coq, Isabelle/HOL, Agda, or comparable systems Lean 4 strongly preferred Deep enthusiasm for formal verification, proof assistants, and mechanized mathematics Able to translate informal arguments into clean, structured formal proofs with clarity and precision Nice to Have Familiarity with type theory, the CurryHoward correspondence, and proof automation tools Experience contributing to largescale formalization projects such as Mathlib Exposure to theorem provers where automated reasoning frequently fails or requires extensive manual scaffolding Prior experience with data annotation, evaluation systems, or AI training workflows Strong communication skills for documenting formalization decisions, edge cases, and reasoning strategies Why Join Us Work at the cutting edge of AI research alongside leading labs and researchers Fully remote and flexible work when and where it suits you Freelance autonomy: set your own pace, own your schedule, and collaborate globally Contribute directly to how AI reasons about and understands advanced mathematics Potential for contract extension as new projects launch #J-18808-Ljbffr
