Australian Centre for Disease Control Advisory Council Members (Expression of Interest) Help shape the future of public health in Australia The Australian Government is seeking expressions of interest from exceptional people to join the Advisory Council of the Australian Centre for Disease Control (CDC). The Australian CDC is a new national institution, established to strengthen Australias capability in disease prevention, preparedness, surveillance and response. Its Advisory Council will provide independent, expert advice to the DirectorGeneral on public health matters and help shape the agencys strategic direction and priorities. This is a rare opportunity to contribute to work of real national importance, and to help guide an institution being built for the longterm protection of Australias public health. We are seeking respected leaders with deep expertise, experience or qualifications in areas such as: Public health, clinical practice, economics, data and statistics, emergency management, communications, human rights, and related fields, including artificial intelligence and behavioural science. We are looking for people who bring: Recognised standing in their field Sound judgement Strategic perspective The ability to work through complex and sensitive issues thoughtfully and constructively In accordance with the Australian Centre for Disease Control Act 2025, the Advisory Council will include: At least one Aboriginal person or a Torres Strait Islander (or both) with relevant expertise, qualifications or experience in the health needs of Aboriginal persons or Torres Strait Islanders (or both) At least one member with disability who has relevant expertise, qualifications or experience in the health needs of people with disability.
