Learn more The General Manager Heritage Services is a member of the Leadership Team and is accountable for the strategic leadership, operational management and financial performance of Yamatji Southern Regional Corporations Heritage Services function. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES Provide strategic and operational leadership to the Heritage Services function as part of the Leadership Team. Contribute to whole-of-organisation planning, decision-making and performance, ensuring the Heritage Services portfolio is aligned with YSRCs Strategic Plan, operational plans, annual budgets and organisational priorities. Lead the Heritage Services team in a manner that promotes accountability, professionalism, collaboration, cultural integrity and high performance. Support and implement CEO and Board-approved organisational priorities, decisions and change initiatives relevant to the portfolio. 2. Heritage Services Delivery Lead the planning, coordination and delivery of heritage surveys, cultural monitoring, heritage advice and related services to ensure work is delivered safely, professionally, on time, within budget and to the required standard. Ensure heritage activities are informed by appropriate cultural authority, Traditional Owner engagement processes and operational requirements. Oversee service delivery systems, workflows and resource allocation to improve efficiency, consistency, reporting and performance across the portfolio. Ensure the Heritage Services team has the capability, tools, systems and operational support required to deliver services effectively. 3. Governance, Risk and Compliance Ensure the Heritage Services portfolio operates in compliance with relevant legislation, contractual obligations, cultural protocols, internal delegations, policies, procedures and governance frameworks. Maintain oversight of portfolio risks, incidents, compliance obligations and quality assurance processes, and ensure material issues are escalated appropriately to the CEO. Ensure accurate, timely and professional reporting is provided to the CEO, Leadership Team and Board as required, including operational updates, performance reporting, risk issues and strategic matters. Ensure heritage records, project documentation, approvals, data and other organisational information are maintained appropriately and in accordance with organisational and legal requirements. 4. Financial Management and Commercial Performance Lead the financial management of the Heritage Services portfolio, including budget development, forecasting, expenditure oversight and monitoring of financial performance. Develop and implement strategies to improve the long-term financial sustainability of Heritage Services, including fee-for-service opportunities, funding pathways, service growth and operational efficiency. Oversee pricing, quoting, cost recovery, resource planning and contract delivery to ensure commercial discipline and financial viability across heritage-related work. Work closely with the CEO and finance team to align business unit planning, workforce requirements and financial performance with organisational objectives. Identify and pursue opportunities to strengthen the portfolios contribution to YSRCs broader strategic and commercial objectives. 5. Stakeholder Engagement and Representation Build and maintain strong, professional relationships with Traditional Owners, Elders, Prescribed Bodies Corporate, government agencies, proponents, clients, contractors and other stakeholders relevant to the Heritage Services portfolio. Represent YSRC in meetings, forums and negotiations relevant to heritage services, cultural heritage matters and business unit priorities. Support positive engagement outcomes that uphold YSRCs reputation, strengthen stakeholder confidence and advance the organisations interests. Ensure stakeholder engagement is undertaken in a culturally informed, professional and solutions-focused manner. 6. People Leadership and Workforce Capability Lead and manage staff within the Heritage Services portfolio, including performance expectations, supervision, development, accountability and workplace culture. Ensure appropriate workforce planning is in place to support service delivery requirements, approved growth and organisational priorities. Identify capability gaps and implement training, mentoring and development strategies to strengthen individual and team performance. Lead approved structural, operational and workforce changes within the portfolio in a planned, professional and compliant manner. Promote a safe, respectful and high-performing workplace environment consistent with YSRC values and expectations. QUALIFICATIONS, LICENCES AND EXPERIENCE Mandatory or Legislative: Tertiary qualification in archaeology, anthropology, business management, environmental science, finance, legal, a related field, or equivalent demonstrated experience. Experience working with Aboriginal culture, Native Title, heritage, and issues affecting Aboriginal communities. Proven experience in strategic planning, governance, and community engagement. Demonstrated ability to develop and implement financial sustainability strategies, including securing funding and revenue generation. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with experience building relationships with diverse stakeholders. Business writing and presentation skills, with confidence presenting to senior decision-makers. Experience leading and managing multidisciplinary teams, fostering collaboration, and delivering results in fast-paced environments. Identifies as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander. #J-18808-Ljbffr
