About Oddies Oddies Delivery is on a mission to make fresh produce more affordable and accessible across Sydney. We are a fast-growing, founder-run subscription-based produce service, helping Sydney households save on their grocery bills, supporting local growers, fighting food waste, and delivering market-fresh fruit and veg straight to customers'' kitchens. We currently run five core products and a growing B2B wholesale arm supplying cafs and restaurants across Sydney. About The Role We are looking for an Operations Manager to own the full Oddies week - from market buying through warehouse packing to dispatch. Reporting to the co-founders, you will be the operational heart of the business, responsible for the buy, the menu, the floor, and the team. The week runs Monday through Thursday, with two early-morning market shifts at Sydney Markets (Mon + Tue, 4am starts), two warehouse anchor days for stock receiving, packing, and dispatch (Wed + Thu, including one 4am dispatch start on Thursday), and flexible admin time around them. Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays are off. ~37 hrs/week total. This is a hands-on, end-to-end role with clear runway - as the business grows, this role steps into a Head of Operations remit within ~6 months. We are hiring for the person, not just the job. Key Responsibilities - Buying & Menu: Lead grower and supplier relationships, Procure on Mondays and Tuesdays at Sydney Markets. - Warehouse Operations: Stock receiving, managing packing shifts, dispatch and last-mile driver coordination. - B2B Fulfilment: Manage the weekly wholesale price list and pick/pack. - Team Leadership: Coach and develop your direct report and manage the casual packer team incl. recruitment, rostering, performance, payroll. - Performance & Improvement: Track pack time per box, waste %, and dispatch on-time rate. Spot what''s drifting and fix it before we feel it. - Operational Backbone: Own supplier, Chep, vehicle, and equipment admin. - General Admin: Own the operational budget and support our bookkeeper at month-end. What You Bring - Drive & Ownership: A self-starter who wants to be measured by outputs. You can run your own week without daily check-ins. - Fresh Produce Instinct: Background in markets, wholesale, retail buying, or hospitality - or a serious enthusiast. You can read quality and know Australian seasonality. - Floor Leadership: Comfortable running a packing shift of 5-10, up for the early starts (3 a week), willing to get on the forklift. - Commercial Judgement: You can build a menu, hold a margin, structure a B2B price list, and spot a deal from a soft price. - Eligibility: Australian work rights and a current driver''s licence. - A current C (Car) licence is required. A forklift licence or certification can be obtained after hiring. Bonus Points - Existing relationships at Sydney Markets (Flemington). - Subscription, meal kit, or fresh-food fulfilment background. - Last-mile dispatch or driver management experience. - Experience building wholesale price lists.
