Job Description

Wilbur''s Wildlife is seeking our next wildlife presenter and keeper. Use your passion for native animals to educate and inspire the next generation of wildlife lovers. Australian citizenship is required for this position. Reporting to the Director of Animal Care and Director of Business Operations your work will involve travel across South Australia to deliver native animal presentations at schools, kindergartens, aged care homes and events among others. A full driver''s licence is required for travel to presentation venues. A Working with Children Check must be obtained before commencing employment. Wilbur''s Wildlife also operate a visitor attraction, the Wilbur''s Wildlife Discovery Centre where you will present site based presentations during the school holidays. This role will be based at our Murray Bridge headquarters where you will undertake work to feed, clean and generally care for our animal collection. We maintain a diverse range of animals including reptiles, mammals, birds, amphibians and invertebrates and the selected candidate will work across all taxa. This role will suit a person looking to grow their career in their wildlife industry as part of a rapidly growing business. A minimum of 6 months'' experience in animal care or zookeeping is required. About the Role Wilbur''s Wildlife operates currently with a small team and your role will be diverse with a range of responsibilities depending on operational requirements. Core Duties - Providing native animal presentations at a range of venues including schools, kindergartens, events and birthday parties for groups of people - General animal care such as feeding, cleaning and health checks - Record Keeping - Develop and implement training plans for a range of species. - Identify and cut browse to feed our collection - Other duties as required Key Requirements - Hold a valid Australian Driver''s License and be capable of driving a manual vehicle - Available to work across a rotating roster including weekends and public holidays - Experience working with native animals in a captive setting - Currently hold or eligible to obtain a Working with Children''s Check and Police Clearance Well Regarded - Previous experience with training birds for free-flight presentations - Previous experience with crocodilians - Certificate III in Wildlife and Exhibited Animal Care To apply for this role please submit a CV including a cover letter addressing the above requirements and send to Cale Russell at *****@wilburswildlife.com.au This role is being hired for an immediate start.
