Trainee Water Quality Analyst Targeted Join the largest dedicated water and wastewater laboratory in the Southern Hemisphere. Develop your skills through a structured training program whilst completing your CertificateIII in Laboratory Skills. The 24month paid fixedterm traineeship offers a base salary of $62,803.95 plus superannuation and a rostered day off (RDO). How does our Traineeship program work? As a Trainee Water Quality Analyst, youll join a supportive laboratory team that plays a critical role in protecting public health, waterways and the environment. With guidance and mentoring, youll assist in collecting and analysing samples from a range of environments, using laboratory equipment and following established procedures. No prior laboratory experience is required just a genuine interest in science, water quality and a willingness to learn. The traineeship provides a practical introduction to water quality monitoring, covering both fieldwork and laboratory analysis. Youll complete a CertificateIII in Laboratory Skills through TAFE while gaining paid, onsite experience, supported by structured learning and mentoring. The program may include rotations across Laboratory Biology, Laboratory Chemistry or Field Sampling, giving you broad exposure to laboratory operations. Your key responsibilities include: Complete a CertificateIII in Laboratory Skills through TAFE while undertaking the traineeship Collect, prepare and analyse environmental samples water, soil and sediment Receive, register and process samples in accordance with established laboratory procedures Assist with laboratory analyses using a range of equipment and systems under supervision Accurately record data and maintain records using the Laboratory Information Management System Support safe laboratory and field operations by following safety procedures and reporting hazards or incidents Assist with field sampling activities and learn correct sampling techniques Work collaboratively as part of a laboratory team and rotate across different work areas as required Experience and qualifications A genuine interest in science, water quality and environmental monitoring Willingness and ability to undertake and successfully complete a CertificateIII in Laboratory Skills as part of the traineeship Ability to follow instructions, procedures and safe work practices Awareness of workplace health and safety requirements and a commitment to working safely at all times Basic computer skills, including the ability to use common software and digital systems (Microsoft Office, tablets, mobile devices) Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately record information and data Effective communication skills and ability to work cooperatively as part of a team Reliability, timemanagement skills and ability to complete tasks within agreed timeframes Targeted recruitment This is a targeted recruitment campaign.
