Responsibilities As a Marine Underwriter at AIG, be a key contributor to the existing portfolio and future growth of the portfolio. Work closely with the Head of Marine, Pacific to develop and enhance underwriting and broker relationship skills with the potential for intrastate and interstate travel. Responsible for the achievement of budgeted production objectives of the Marine Profit Centre. Assist in handling all aspects of the processing and administration of the Marine Profit Centre, including production estimates, debtors over 90 days and unallocated cash. Liaise with Manager to facilitate current month, quarter and year-to-date production estimates for all minor lines. Timely completion of monthly reporting of production and development activity, market intelligence and strategy. Maintain activity records of quotations and strike rates. Develop individual production budgets, visitation schedules and action plans in accordance with corporate direction. Assist in implementing business plans and ensuring adherence to corporate guidelines. Maintain agreed production targets by establishing accurate target listings by individual lines of business and utilizing Strategic Selling initiatives to achieve results. Develop annual strategic account targets and detailed action plans for each line of business in the Marine segment. Underwrite renewal business and binding, including presentation and issuance of terms and binding as required. Identify and underwrite new business, including presentation and issuance of terms and binding. Prepare and issue policy wording documentation, endorsements and other required documents in accordance with corporate guidelines. Complete, check and issue documentation, underwriting worksheets, cover notes, and insurance certificates in accordance with corporate guidelines. Input quote register data into the corporate system. Refer Renewal or New Business outside of underwriting authority to Regional Product Line Manager. Ensure quality, accuracy and completeness of entries for accounts allocated into the GOALS system. Maintain the integrity of all underwriting disciplines of all Marine business. Develop solid working relationships with major clients and brokers of allocated accounts and potential new accounts in the region. Identify business opportunities for other profit centres to support cross-marketing strategies. Liaise with administration staff, legal, claims, finance and accounting to ensure underwriting and business activity standards are understood and supported. Leverage resources in NZ, the Region and Worldwide to enhance value proposition and market share in the Marine segment. What Youll Need To Succeed Relevant experience in the Marine market. Experience in Marine Insurance with a willingness to develop an understanding of Marine Cargo, Marine Liability and other Marine products that may be developed. Experience understanding and executing underwriting guidelines, rating algorithms and product development preferred. Willingness to develop strong broker relationships and a service-oriented mindset. Results oriented. Strong negotiator. Influencing, relationship building and communications skills. Ability to work across multiple areas of the company.
