Seeking an experienced nurse who is passionate about working with vulnerable children and young people in public school settings and providing wraparound support with families to help them access healthcare and social supports. Employment Type: Permanent Part Time Position Classification: Clinical Nurse Specialist Grade 2 Remuneration: $58.83 - $60.76 per hour Hours Per Week: 24 Requisition ID: REQ659452 Where you''ll be working: Various public schools in the Northern Sydney region, with a team and school holiday base at Royal North Shore Community Health Centre Position Overview The Wellbeing Nurse is a member of the NSLHD Youth Health, Wellbeing and Service Pathways Team who works with children and young people from priority population groups. The role is based in various public schools that have been selected to be part of the NSW Wellbeing Health Inreach Nurse (WHIN) Program. The WHIN program promotes the health and wellbeing of children and families by facilitating early access to health care, preventing illness and injury, and encouraging early child health intervention over the longterm. Responsibilities Provide targeted psychosocial and primary health assessments to students at designated schools. Coordinate shortterm healthcare and navigation to support students and their families in accessing medical, health and social support services. Engage and work in partnership with children, young people and parents/caregivers using a strengthsbased framework to build rapport and identify health and wellbeing needs. Lead care coordination activities, including organising referrals, advocating for service access and liaising with multiple agencies and community groups. Assist with arranging and accessing primary and specialist health care appointments for clients when required. Collaborate with school principals, wellbeing teams, counsellors and student support officers to support students with complex health issues. Qualifications and Eligibility Current Registered Nurse Division 1 National Registration (AHPRA) with a minimum of 3 years postregistration clinical experience working with schoolage children and young people. A postregistration qualification related to the specialty area of Adolescent and Young Adult Health, Child and Family Health Nursing, Paediatrics, or equivalent experience is required. Current NSW drivers licence and willingness to use for work purposes. Experience and/or demonstrated ability to work within community health, school and/or health interagency contexts, developing relationships to support integrated, coordinated and clientcentric care for schoolage children, young people and families/carers. Advanced level knowledge, skills and ability to exercise extended autonomy and professional judgement in undertaking developmentally appropriate, traumainformed health care for children, adolescents and their families with complex needs. Advanced ability to utilise Microsoft 365 programmes, electronic communication and medical record systems across various applications, including eHealth technologies.
