Job Description

Position SummaryAs aJuniorElectricalEstimator, you will play a key role in supporting ourestimatingdepartment by assisting in the preparation of accurate and competitive cost estimates for electrical construction projects. Youll collaborate closely with Project Managers, SeniorEstimators, and other team members to help secure new projects and ensure our bids reflect the quality and integrityTDR Electricis known for. This is a fantastic opportunity for an individual eager to build their career in the electrical industry while gaining hands-on experience across a variety of projects.Key ResponsibilitiesAssist in preparing detailed, accurate, and competitive cost estimates for electrical projects, including materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor services.Review drawings, specifications, and project documents to develop a clear understanding of the scope and requirements.Perform detailed quantity take-offs for electrical systems including power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and low-voltage systems.Produce accurate Bills of Materials (BOM) and coordinate with suppliers to obtain competitive pricing.Solicit and evaluate quotes from subcontractors and suppliers for inclusion in project estimates.Utilizeestimatingsoftware such asAccubid Pro,LiveCount, orBluebeamto develop comprehensive estimates.Prepare and maintain organized bid packages and proposal documents.Conduct site visits and attend pre-bid meetings and tender walk-throughs to gather on-site information, clarify project scope, and identify potential issues or opportunities.Participate in bid closing processes, including internal bid review meetings, and ensure timely submission of final bids.Collaborate with SeniorEstimatorsand Project Managers to transition successful bids into active projects through effective handover meetings.Maintain accurate records of historical data, completed bids, pricing trends, and supplier/subcontractor information.Estimateand prepare change orders for ongoing projects.Continuously develop your knowledge of industry trends, electrical systems, codes (BC Building Code, Canadian Electrical Code), and construction best practices.Foster relationships with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors to support future work.Skills and Qualifications0-2 years of experience in electricalestimating, project coordination, or related roles in the electrical or construction industry (internships/co-ops count!).Basic understanding of electrical systems and the ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook); experience withAccubid Pro,LiveCount,Bluebeam, or otherestimatingsoftware is an asset.Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.Detail-oriented with excellent organizational abilities and a commitment to accuracy.Good communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.Self-motivated, eager to learn, and a team-first attitude.High school diploma is requiredWhat We OfferCompetitive salary (70K - 80K/year based on experience) and comprehensive benefits package, including:Extended health careDental careLife insuranceRRSP matching (4%)Free parking at our office location.Opportunities for professional growth and hands-on learning from industry experts.Exposure to a variety of exciting commercial and residential projects.Company-sponsored events and team-building activities.A supportive team environment that fosters collaboration, integrity, and craftsmanship.Clear career progression and room for growth within the company.Work ScheduleFull-time positionMonday to Friday
