PCPI is seeking the expertise and experience of an Enhance Language Training (ELT) Instructor to work as an independent contractor to provide service for two workforce preparation programs.As an ELT instructor the contracted position will provide sector specific training to internationally educated nurses preparing to write their Canadian nursing examination to obtain licensure, and to newcomer job seekers in the Healthcare sector with a focus on personal support workers/caregivers and medical assistants. The ideal applicant will have knowledge and/or experience in the healthcare sector, excellent communication and facilitation skills, certified as a language instructor and is experienced in on-line teaching. Scope of The Work. The ELT instructor will work with the program managers to develop the curriculum for the training and/or bring their own curriculum that can be tweaked to meet the needs of the learners in our programs. They will ensure that the curriculum follows the Adult Education delivery methodology and is participatory and experiential to keep the learners engaged. There are two programs, one that is comprised of nurses and the second is made up of newcomers in the healthcare sector. Class size is on average 30 participants per cohort to a total of eight cohorts for the year, five hours per day for six weeks. There are approximately 210 hours of work in the first year. Learners will have Canadian Language Benchmark of level 6 or higher. To support the language training, the ELT instructor will be accountable for: Developing Portfolio-Based Language Assessment (PBLA) based modules, lesson plans and assessment tasks for on-going evaluation of learners progress based on the CLB & PBLA Guidelines. Working with learners to determine their learning goals and provide regular feedback on their progress. Administer quizzes to access learning progress, areas for improvement and for support. Creating an anti-bias class atmosphere where learners feel welcomed and are encouraged to actively participate Create and submit bi-weekly lesson plans to managers of each program and comply with PCPIs confidentiality and privacy policies. Provide a narrative report at the end of each cohort that outlies, attendance rate, achievements, and recommendations. Survey learners to garner the level of satisfaction with the training received. We would like to hear from you, if you have the following experience and qualification: TESL Certificate from a recognized institution and ongoing membership with TESL Ontario. A minimum of two (2) years teaching ESL or LINC at various CLB levels at a reputable organization. Knowledge and experience working with Portfolio-based Language Assessments (PBLA) is preferred. Excellent lesson planning skills. Experience working with adults from diverse cultural backgrounds. Working knowledge of ESL educational software, MS Office-Excel and PowerPoint and on-line workshop delivery. Good knowledge of Canadian Language Benchmarks and ability to benchmark learners progress.
