Job Title: Vice President of Human ResourcesLocation: Calgary, AB (with responsibility for branches in Calgary and Florida)Reports To: President & CEOPosition Overview:The Vice President (VP) of Human Resources (HR) will be a strategic and hands-on leaderresponsible for all HR activities within the firm. This includes HR management, recruitment,payroll, performance management, employee relations, training, and compliance with legal andregulatory requirements. The VP of HR will play a key role in fostering a positive and engagingworkplace culture, supporting the firms goals, and ensuring that the company attracts, retains,and develops top talent within the architecture and engineering design industry.Key Responsibilities: HR Strategy & Planning:o Develop and execute a comprehensive HR strategy aligned with the companysoverall objectives.o Ensure the company's human resources policies and practices reflect bestpractices in the architecture and engineering industries.o Lead efforts to create and implement HR initiatives that support business growthand employee engagement. Employee Relations & Engagement:o Foster a positive and inclusive company culture that reflects the firms values.o Act as a trusted advisor to employees and management on HR-related issues,including conflict resolution, performance issues, and career development.o Develop and implement employee engagement initiatives to retain top talent andenhance job satisfaction. Payroll & Benefits Management:o Oversee payroll processes and ensure accurate and timely compensation foremployees across both offices.o Manage employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirementplans, and other benefits offerings.o Ensure compliance with all relevant labor laws and regulatory requirements inboth Canada and the US. Talent Acquisition & Recruitment:o Oversee recruitment processes for all positions across the firms Calgary andFlorida branches.o Work closely with senior leadership to determine staffing needs and develop jobdescriptions.o Manage full-cycle recruitment, including sourcing, interviewing, and onboardingof new employees.o Develop and maintain talent pipelines for future hiring needs. Performance Management & Development:o Lead the development and implementation of performance management systems.o Partner with managers to provide guidance on employee performance, training,and development.o Establish and manage talent development programs to enhance employee skillsand prepare them for leadership roles. Compliance & Legal:o Ensure the company is compliant with all labor laws and regulations in bothCanada and the US.o Maintain up-to-date knowledge of HR best practices and legal requirements.o Handle employee relations issues in accordance with labor laws and companypolicies. HR Analytics & Reporting:o Track and report key HR metrics such as employee turnover, retention,engagement, and performance.o Provide regular reports and insights to the executive team on HR-related activitiesand strategic goals.o Identify trends and propose solutions to improve employee satisfaction, retention,and performance.Qualifications: Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.Masters degree or HR certification (CHRP, SHRM-SCP, etc.) preferred. Minimum of 10 years of HR experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role withinthe architecture, engineering, or similar industries. Extensive experience in recruitment, talent management, compensation, payroll, andperformance management. In-depth knowledge of HR best practices, labor laws, and regulations in Canada and theUS. Proven track record in managing HR functions across multiple locations and teams. Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to workeffectively with both employees and leadership. Ability to work independently and handle multiple HR functions simultaneously in adynamic, growing organization. Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to resolving HR issues.
