The General Manager of the Solid Waste Management Division at Tomlinson Environmental Services (TES) is responsible for overseeing operations across three hauling districts, a transfer station, Materials Recovery Facility (MRF), Construction and Demolition (C&D) and organics processing facilities, landfill management contracts, and the Document Storage and Destruction Services Division. The role entails prioritizing exceptional customer service, implementing efficient processes, while leading and coaching the Team that allows each member to reach their potential. The General Manager leads initiatives to promote safety, operational excellence, innovation, and a cohesive one team culture to drive success across the Tomlinson Group of Companies. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Lead, manage and motivate the entire Solid Waste Management Services and Document Storage and Destruction Services divisions, while ensuring system wide operational and customer service excellence. Work with the TES VP to develop and implement the divisions strategy, including goals, tactics, processes, targets, and performance metrics. Full P&L responsibility and forecasting responsibilities. Providing ongoing development and growth opportunities for direct and indirect reports. Work on tender submissions. Build relationships with key stakeholders, including regulators, customers, suppliers and other Tomlinson businesses to advance the company's overall strategy. Overall oversight to hiring and staffing decisions. Lead Succession Planning and staff development initiatives. Lead innovation projects and Best Practices sessions. Develop/explore new business opportunities. Act as a change agent and lead the implementation of changes across the division. Participate in corporate initiatives, providing input and assisting with implementation while acting as an ambassador for the company decisions and programs. Implement and enhance an ongoing health and safety culture. ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Focuses on continued personal development. Participates as an active member of industry-specific committees. Mentor and motivate direct reports to assist in their professional growth and development. Contributes to growing business and revenue opportunities. QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor of Environmental or Civil Engineering preferred or additional industry experience. 10+ years of industry experience 8+ years of demonstrated accountability, effective people management experience, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated experience in creating and implementing successful strategic plans and initiatives. WORKING CONDITIONS: Working conditions are standard for an environmental services company and includes an indoor office environment as well as time spent at remote operations. Working conditions at waste facilities and environmental services operations are loud, with moving equipment, and unpleasant odours. Work requires the ability to traverse rough ground, climb stairs, bend and crouch. Work requires occasional weekend and/or evening work. Requirement to attend industry events after working hours and on weekends.
