Job Description

We are a full-service supplier of fertilizer, pest management products, including biologicals and bees, seeds and other consumable goods to the greenhouse, nursery and specialty horticulture industries in Canada and the USA.If you’re a team player with a strong work ethic, a self-starter, and passionate about making a difference, then you are exactly who we are looking for!In this role there is a strong emphasis on scouting of greenhouses for biological insects as well as pest insects.Assist other Ancaster IPM Representatives with scouting and greenhouse visits recommending a proactive strategy to customers in order to minimize pest populations in crops by helping implement integrated pest management practicesAssisting greenhouse customers with identifying pest problems and finding appropriate, cost effective and practical solutionsResponsible for the technical support and sales of biological and chemical pest control products to new and existing greenhouse customersMaintaining regular monitoring of the performance of introduced biological pest controls (typically weekly)Ensure that a plan is in place to properly service those customers assigned to you during any absenceKeep management informed of any customer specific issues needing attentionKeep thorough notes of all activities, and retain records indefinitely, using CMS to enter all appropriate informationMonitoring and assisting with bumblebee pollination programs, covering the duties of the pollination technician as neededAs needed customer training on: pests, pest control products, quality control best practice for our products, scouting best practice etc.Responsible for maintenance of technical knowledge on IPM practices and sharing this information with Plant Products colleagues and customers. The source of this knowledge should not be restricted to our suppliersImplementation of pragmatic grower trials for new pest control products and strategiesAssist with managing customer relationships in collaboration with the sales representativesMaintain and expand product sales with current customer base, and seek new business opportunitiesKeep management informed of all changes in market conditionsPromote the use of registered pest control productsWhen it makes financial sense for the customer, promote our line of exclusive or preferred productsHandling customers complaints as set out in Company ProceduresSharing of duties on the Customer Service DeskAssist in keeping company contact list updated using CMSRegularly attend industry meetingsParticipate in company meetings as requiredNeeds to keep up to date with and conform to all corporate policies and procedures, specifically, but not limited to: Standards of Service, Bio Shipping, Procedures, Customer ComplaintsMaintain a strict code of confidentiality concerning Plant Products business activities and all related affairs including but not limited to knowledge specific to Plant Products customers and their businessesTaking any courses/education upgrades as may be required by the companyParticipate in any other company initiatives on an as needed basisWork in accordance with company Mission Statement, Employee Handbook and Procedure ManualWho you areUnderstanding of nutrition, pests, diseases, and greenhouse best practicesStrong communicator, who thrives in collaborative environmentsProficient computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point)What you’ve donePost-secondary education in related fieldBackground in greenhouse industry or previous agricultural experience3 years experience with biological insects in the greenhouse settingWhat we offerHealth benefitsLearning and development opportunitiesRetirement savings matchingSupportive environment
