How will you make an impact in this role? The role of Senior Manager, Business Enablement & Controls is a dynamic, fast-paced role that requires an individual with an enterprise-mindset who can work collaboratively across all levels of the Amex Canada organization. As a core member of the newly established International Card Services (ICS) Business Enablement & Controls team , the successful candidate will be focused on strengthening & elevating our controls to reduce business risk by working directly with a broad set of enterprise stakeholders across 1st, 2nd and 3rd line functions. The Senior Manager, Business Enablement & Controls will play a key role in helping achieve the following objectives: Elevate business controls and reduce operational risk. Enhance coordination and management across all lines of business (first, second and third) as well as regulatory programs. Act as a control centre of excellence & consultation function for ICS colleagues. Support the execution of control requirements across ongoing initiatives, remediations, and action plans. The Senior Manager, Business Enablement & Controls will help to achieve the above objectives across key areas, including (but not limited to): AML/KYC, Business Exams & Testing, TLM, and Offer, Benefit, & Rewards. The successful candidate will be responsible for the following: Establishing Enhanced First Line Controls Strengthen local end-to-end governance and controls. Partner with Enterprise Teams to implement new control requirements. Create comprehensive theme analysis and centralize ownership of cross-functional action plans. Develop and lead new first line testing programs. Lead & Support ICS Control Programs, Exams & Testing Elevate support for ICS colleagues across control management priorities by coordinating across Compliance, Risk, Control Management, and Internal Audit requirements. Ensure robust coordination and oversight for ICS wide testing and exams with internal and external stakeholders. Build Subject Matter Expertise & Execution Excellence Deepen subject matter expertise (governance, technical) across ICS to support colleagues with existing and new risk and control requirements. Establish a centre of execution excellence to partner with ICS and Enterprise Control functions on new workstreams and action plans. People Management Hire, lead and develop a diverse, high performing team by managing, coaching, and inspiring the development of direct report(s). Qualifications: 5+ years of experience leading complex processes and / or cross-functional initiatives and 3+ years of experience leading high performing teams and creating an effective, engaged team culture. High level of business acumen & natural curiosity, excellent strategic thinking, process management and time management skills. Proven track record of leading comprehensive strategic reviews, developing recommendations, and delivering successful projects. Ability to develop clear action plans and drive processes with numerous inter-dependencies. Strong collaborator with the ability to establish and build credibility with key stakeholders. Demonstrated ability to thrive within a highly matrixed organization, capable of influencing and building internal alignment. Track record of achievement in a fast-paced, dynamic role. Proven people leadership skills, leading teams and change management programs to achieve desired outcomes. University degree or equivalent combination of education and business experience.
