Aecon Utilities is ready to become Canadas #1 utility construction provider and were looking for a Feeder Cable Splicer to help us get there! Reporting to the Superintendent, the Feeder Cable Splicer is responsible for splicing high voltage and secondary network systems (power cables used in underground distribution). This position installs, maintains and repairs electrical systems. This role is full-time and unionized with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 258 and is paid in accordance with IBEW rates. With over four decades of experience serving Western Canada, Pacific Electrical Installations (PEI) provides maintenance, construction, and emergency and live line restoration services for critical electrical infrastructure and is the designated powerline service provider to BC Hydro for the Lower Mainland South and Okanagan regions. PEI works alongside local BC Hydro crews to support transmission and distribution infrastructure including trouble response, maintenance, system improvement, end-of-life asset replacement and customer-driven construction programs. PEI also works with Fortis BC, municipalities, and several private sector customers in the areas of mining, forestry, telecom and private development. Install, maintain, repair, and remove high and low voltage conductors, transformers, network protectors, relays, switches, junction boxes and related electrical equipment. Splice and terminate conductors and related wiring to connect power distribution and transmission networks. The work may involve travel to and from the work site, which may be in remote areas necessitating the use of a variety of access equipment such as all-terrain vehicles, helicopters, aircraft, and watercraft. PLT is required to be licensed/qualified to operate variety of vehicles and equipment such as articulated bucket trucks, digger derricks, mobile cranes, and trenchers as well as a variety of hand, power, electrical testing, and hot line tools and equipment. Reading and interpreting drawings and circuit data. Completion of project documentation. Qualifications to test and repair all kinds of lead and metallic covered cable from underground to overland cables. Minimum Class 3 Drivers License with Air Brakes and a clean Abstract. Implement safety procedures, how to use tools and materials, and how to operate a bucket truck in preparation for more complex technical skill development and assignments. Review of all test equipment prints and one-lines. Able to handle large, bulky and often heavy materials or equipment.
