What we offer:Employer Matched RRSP (Registered Retirement Savings Program) Flex-timeExtended Healthcare BenefitsEmployee EventsEducational Assistance ProgramsCostco MembershipTool Replacement ProgramJob Opportunity:We are looking for Intermediate & Senior Mechanical Designers to design the mechanical portion of custom automation equipment to client and IAI specifications, using research techniques, combined with various outside sources of information, to create and verify the design.What youll do: Collaborate with Sales team and Customer to understand project requirements and machine conceptsProvide design solutions for custom, non-standard equipment.Develop sales concepts into detailed 3D CAD models using creative problem solving and application of engineering theoryDelegate duties and coordinate the design process with Junior, and Contractor resources., which could include up to 10 resources during the design phases of large scale projectsReview designs of project team, checking for scope intent, functionality, simplicity, and manufacturabilityMeet with Project Manager and team members to ensure project deliverables are tracking per schedule and scopeConduct design reviews to customer for approval, prior to manufacturingIdentify Machine Safety items and provide design direction in accordance to relevant safety codes and principles. Ability to create and facilitate Machine Safety Risk Assessments with the Project teamReview or prepare detailed manufacturing component and assembly drawings per IA standardsSupervise or complete the creation of IO Lists & Drawings, Risk Assessments, Light Curtain Calculations and Cycle Time charts for down stream departmentsSupports Build team as required during the Assembly and Development of the equipmentUpdate designs and drawings upon development and project completionContribute ideas for Continuous Improvement projects that improve the departments operation and efficiencyMentor and support Junior level mechanical designersWhat youll need:Bachelor/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent specialized experience5+ years of designing Industrial Automation custom machinery with combined leadership experienceGood understanding of Assembly processes including but not limited to:Welding (Mig, Resistance, laser, etc), Dispensing, Pressing, Fastening, Part feeding, Material handling, etcGood understand of GD&T, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing, ASME Y14.5Working knowledge and application of relevant Safety CodesExperience conducting Machine Safety Risk AssessmentsStrong communication, presentation, organizational, and problem-solving skillsTeam player: Ability to collaborate with others in various departments or roles to overcome challenges and find solutions For more information, visit our website at If you require any accommodation during our recruitment process, please let us know.
