Our valued professional services client is seeking a Senior Emergency Dispatcher to support the testing of emergency response software! Long-term engagement starting as an initial 1-year contract. 100% remote, part-time. Work to be performed as and when needed mainly when new releases are planned for the software being supported. As the selected candidate, you will help test and validate mission-critical software. The client develops emergency response software used by first responders across Canada, and is seeking someone with real-world experience on the dispatch floor or in managing emergency response systems. This is a unique opportunity to directly impact the quality and reliability of life-saving technology used nationwide. Responsibilities: Participate in regression and iterative testing of emergency dispatch software to identify bugs, usability issues, and operational inconsistencies. Act as a bridge between developers/testers and real-world dispatch workflows, providing critical insights that enhance product accuracy and effectiveness. Assist with test planning, scenario development, and validation of key dispatcher or emergency response use cases. Validate new features and bug fixes before and after releases using both scripted and exploratory testing methods. Collaborate with QA testers, developers, and project stakeholders to provide contextual feedback and ensure quality in every stage of development. Contribute to documentation and knowledge transfer from an operational perspective. Must Have Skills: 3 years of hands-on experience as a 911 Emergency Dispatcher, ambulance dispatcher, or emergency response systems manager (e.g., in health and safety, EMS coordination, or security operations). Familiarity with CAD (Computer-Aided Dispatch) systems and emergency call-taking or response processes. Willingness to participate in structured testing (waterfall methodology) as well as provide iterative feedback. Nice-to-have Skills: Experience participating in software testing or user acceptance testing (UAT) initiatives. Familiarity with tools used in defect tracking and testing (e.g., JIRA, TestRail).
