Position: Heavy Duty Mechanic Location: Saskatoon, Prince Albert, and La Ronge Introduction Brunel is seeking a Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our mining clients team. Reporting to either the Supervisor, Maintenance, the Mechanic, Heavy Duty, will work with the Maintenance team and be responsible for providing mechanical support and expertise to all areas of the underground and surface operations. This position requires a thorough knowledge of maintenance and repair of mining equipment and the motivation to work in a challenging environment with minimal supervision. Using technical and practical knowledge this position will follow instruction, utilize shop and assembly manuals, and adhere to the health and safety standards. Responsibilities Ensure projects are carried out meticulously, while meeting all budget and time constraints. Repairing the surface and underground mechanical equipment in a timely and financially responsible manner. Interpreting work orders and technical manuals. Responsible for overhaul, maintenance, service, and reconditioning of mining equipment. Responsible for troubleshooting and inspecting equipment to detect faults and malfunctions. Determine extent of repair required. Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts. Test repaired equipment for proper performance. Clean, lubricate, and perform other maintenance work. Responsible for giving direction and training to all level of mechanics as needed and other departments as required. Assist in the forecasting of parts. Responsible for making recommendations regarding the extent of repairs and suggest methods of improvement. Requirements Interprovincial Heavy Duty Trade Certification (or technical mechanical diploma, which will be considered). Minimum 2-3 years of experience with heavy-duty equipment. Alimak experience is an asset. Valid Red Seal certification in a relevant trade. Proof of certification is required at the time of application or prior to boarding. Must be eligible to obtain a Possession and Acquisition License (PAL Card) for handling explosives. Experience working in safety-sensitive environments; experience with explosives is an asset. Ability to pass pre-employment drug and alcohol testing. Schedule & Transportation Rotation: 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off at a remote camp. Fly-in Fly-out (FIFO) with pick-up locations in Saskatoon, Prince Albert, and La Ronge. Shifts: Alternating 2-week periods of day shifts (6:00 AM 6:00 PM) and night shifts (6:00 PM 6:00 AM). Substance Testing This is a safety-sensitive role; pre-employment drug and alcohol testing is required. Testing includes marijuana (THC), which can remain in the system for up to 30 days.
