This role functions as the senior HR advisor for assigned business units, executing workforce strategies that drive organizational objectives and operational excellence.Key ResponsibilitiesBusiness PartnershipExecute HR strategy and operations for designated client groups and resolve complex escalations from direct reportsCollaborate with leaders to design and implement HR initiatives that advance operational prioritiesDeliver expert consultation on critical HR matters including workforce planning, talent management, employee/labour relations, and regulatory complianceResolve complex employee relations challenges, conduct and oversee workplace investigationsProvide coaching to supervisors on performance management and progressive disciplineDrive union contract compliance, manage grievance processes, and foster productive labour relationsHR Program LeadershipSpearhead special programs and HR initiativesImplement targeted engagement strategies for industrial and construction workforceEstablish and govern consistent application of HR policies across multiple sitesDirect collaboration with specialized HR teams to deliver integrated solutionsCraft effective communications strategies for diverse workforce audiencesEvaluate program effectiveness and drive continuous improvementTeam Leadership & DevelopmentProvide direction and mentorship to 3 HR Business Partners/GeneralistsEstablish escalation protocols and resolve complex HR issues from team membersCross-Functional ResponsibilitiesEnsure continuity of Payroll and Benefits functions through backup supportAssist with recruitment for various critical positionsEstablish collaborative partnerships with other departments on enterprise-wide initiativesPerform various administrative functions as requiredOther duties as assignedQualificationsEducation & ExperienceBachelors degree in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, Business, or related field5-10 years of progressive HR experience with 2+ years of leadership in manufacturing/constructionCHRL designation requiredComprehensive knowledge of employment legislation relevant to industrial and construction settings in Ontario and the USKnowledge of payroll practices is a strong assetExperience with Dayforce is a strong assetDemonstrated success in union environments preferredCompetenciesUnderstanding of manufacturing/construction operations and business driversAdvanced conflict resolution and problem-solving capabilitiesEstablished credibility with operations leaders and frontline staffSuperior communication and influencing skills across diverse audiencesStrategic yet pragmatic approach to business challengesDemonstrated versatility in both corporate and industrial environmentsWorking ConditionsPrimary office location with regular travel to sites across Ontario and USEnvironments include both corporate offices and industrial settings requiring PPEStandard business hours with flexibility required for strategic prioritiesSteelcon offers a unique opportunity to grow and make a meaningful impact.
