Our Studio Komi Games is a reputed independent game studio based in Toronto, Canada that develops and publishes games for both PC and console. Though our primary strength is in the development of 3D action combat titles, the studio has and continues to develop immersive gameplay experiences across many genres. We also partner with clients to provide support and porting services. Our studio has considerable experience working on a host of titles including King of Fighters XV and Psychonauts 2 along with titles of our own creation such as Mighty Fight Federation. Our current focus is the co-development of a dynamic, character-driven action title in partnership with Sega. The Opportunity The Quality Assurance (QA) Tester plays an integral role in identifying, recording, triaging, and supporting the elimination of bugs identified over the course of game development at Komi Games. These activities are critical to ensure our projects achieve the highest possible level of quality. This job advertisement is for an existing vacancy within our Studio. What to Expect of the Role Devise and execute test plans and document findings. Employ a consistent and reliable format to record bugs, substantiated with clear descriptions, reproduction steps, environment information and video evidence. Champion the process of following up, re-testing and regressing bugs. Ensure any supporting personnel are aware of and adhere to documented bug reporting procedures. Review and implement enhancements to existing testing techniques and methods in an effort to continuously improve processes. Provide updates and communicate the status of issues where appropriate or where requested. Diligently update and maintain the QA database. Remain current with industry trends and best practices related to game testing and quality assurance. Performing and participating in other role relevant duties, projects and ad hoc tasks as required. What We''re After Technical Skills A minimum of one (1) year of experience in a QA role within the gaming industry. Strong working knowledge of testing and reporting tools (e.g., Jira, Trello, GitHub, etc.) Experience authoring or improving upon quality assurance methodologies used in game development. An understanding of the various functional areas common to game development to support collaboration and assignment of tickets (i.e., Art, Design, Code). Exposure, if not hands-on experience, with industry standard engines like Unreal or Unity; UE experience preferred as an asset. Detail-oriented with a focus on ensuring work is accurate and thorough. A dedicated team player mentality, willing and enthusiastic about collaborating with others. Highly organized and disciplined in terms of consistency and following standard procedures. Assertive in the insistence on process and diligence in handling bug reporting and closure.
