Balance between work and play is not just a written company value but embodied in the company culture and practiced by the whole team.ABOUT THE JOB:As the successful candidate, you will be responsible for:Meeting with a backlog of potential clients to determine if they would be a good fit for the firm through active listening, fact gathering and document review.Project management of a broad range of complex family law files, including separation agreements, division of assets and debts, spousal and childcare support from initial meeting through closing of each case.Building strong relationships with clients by moving them forward to the agreed-upon outcomes, keeping them informed of progress and preparing them for the next steps to ensure quality client care.Case preparation to ensure clients get the outcomes they want by strategically utilizing effective ADR and legal procedures under BC Family Law.Trial strategy preparation and litigation should an ADR process not be effective or possible.REQUIREMENTS:3+ years experience as a Family or Estate Lawyer in BC managing simple and complex family law filessome estate law experience would be an assetA member of the B.C Bar and in good standing or willing to transfer from another Province or TerritoryLitigation experience with a strong settlement focus and expertise in ADRExtremely detail-oriented with strong organization and follow-up skillsDemonstrated ability to work efficiently and meet deadlinesSoftware savvy with experience working with and learning new legal software, experience with LEAP is a definite assetStrong project management skills with the ability to juggle multiple family/estate law files effectivelyDemonstrated ability to make sound judgmentsExcellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to understand the clients needs and perspectiveExceptional problem-solving skills with the ability to challenge assumptions and develop strategic solutions to achieve better client resultsCaring with a strong desire to make things better for familiesA life-long learner with an improvement-seeking orientationAppreciates balance between work and play and the beauty of natureAbility to work in the office when meeting with clients and remotely when appropriateWHAT YOU GET:Our client offers a generous compensation package with expected earnings between $120,000 and $250,000+ depending on experience. Compensation is flexible and negotiable and can be set up using a revenue split model.
