The RoleUnder the direction of the Human Resources Director, the Occupational Health and Safety Specialist will be responsible for promoting safety attitudes, safe work practices and environments as well as manage, maintain and administer Frind Winery Ltd.’s health and safety program with the objective of minimizing accidents, injuries and environmental and equipment damage.This role will primarily work out of our winery, 3725 Boucherie Road, West Kelowna, with regular travel between sites across the Okanagan from Vernon and Osoyoos.ResponsibilitiesManage, maintain and administer Frind Winery Ltd.’s health and safety program across our business operation, including but not limited to: Hospitality, Production, Vineyards, etcParticipate in projects and activities to enhance organizational performance and promote and support a culture of safetyAct as the first point-of-contact for safety inquiries and incidents and promptly deal with complaints relating to the health and safety of workersRecommend improvements of the occupational health and safety, and the occupational environment of workersRecommend educational programs promoting the health and safety of workers and compliance with the OHS provisions of the Workers Compensation Act and the regulations, and monitor their effectivenessAdvise the employer on programs and policies required under the regulations for the workplace, and to monitor their effectivenessProvide guidance, advice and assistance to managers, supervisors and workers on a variety of matters including safety of workers, job procedures, property and equipment.Relay required safety information to all new hiresPerform risk assessments to eliminate or reduce hazardous effects on workers, the environment and equipmentConduct and document inspections and regular site visits to verify compliance with corporate policies and health and safety regulationsIdentify corrective action to be taken when unsafe acts are identified during an inspection process;
