Department / Branch: Commercial Banking DepartmentLocation: Richmond Hill OfficeReports To: Manager, Business Team Lead & Deputy Head, Commercial Banking Department, with a dotted line to the Regional Head, Eastern CanadaEmployment Type: 6-month contract / Full-Time PermanentGeneral Accountabilities:To establish and maintain business relationship with prospect and existing business clients, and to promote the Banks products and services, for the purpose of growing business revenue for the Bank and achieving quantitative and qualitative performance targets assigned.To explore potential clients and business opportunities, to initiate and implement marketing strategy, to plan and organize marketing activities and external marketing events, etc.To identify clients needs, to initiate and scrutinize credit requests, make recommendations, negotiate suitable pricing, and prepare good quality credit proposals while ensuring lending guidelines are adhered, and to maintain a good-quality client portfolio.To be responsible for post-lending monitoring of existing corporate clients and loan facilities to control credit risks, financial risks, AML risks, etc.To provide commercial and retail loan administration control / support and coach junior staffs in credit and marketing areas.Specific Accountabilities:1. Business Development:Build and maintain client portfolios to meet business development objectives.Offer solutions tailored to clients overall needs.Seize businesses referral opportunities from existing customers, accountants, lawyers and real estate brokers.Cross-sell relevant and value-added financial products and services2. Marketing-Oriented Activities:Explore potential clients and business opportunities.Initiate and implement effective marketing strategies.Plan and organize marketing activities and external events.3. Portfolio Management:Develop and maintain an existing portfolio by regularly visiting and interviewing existing and new loan clients.Identify clients financing needs and monitor changes,Pay attention to accounts showing sign of deteriorating.4. Post-Lending AdministrationComplete annual review, term renewals, and CRA reviews on a timely basisNegotiate product terms and conditions with clients to meet expected profitability criteria.Follow up on current fire insurance policies5. Reporting:Apply sound and supportable judgement to follow up and regularize missing or irregular securities and documents from borrowers.Complete various monthly reports, including follow up / closely monitor reports, GCMS asset classification, and PPSA renewal6. Due Diligence:Prepare and presents, as required, supporting detailed loan summary or recommendation which include all appropriate supporting documentation, clients data, credit searches, underwriting review, risk analysis and clear, concise recommendation for new proposal7. Internal ControlAdhere to regulatory control standards.Identify and manage risks associated with client relationships including but not limited to compliance risk, credit risk, operational risk, financial crime (fraud and Anti-Money Laundering) risk, integrity and security risk, etc.Qualifications:Undergraduate or above in Finance, Business Administration or related fields.Minimum of 3 years of related banking experience in Corporate Banking, Commercial Banking, Credit Adjudication, and/or Credit Underwriting.Strong knowledge of commercial and retail lending policies and procedures.Proficient in credit underwriting operations and credit solutions.Strong analytical and problem solving skills.Effective marketing and time management abilities.Strong verbal and written communications skills in English. Proficiency in Chinese is considered an asset.CFA, CA, CPA, MBA or CDCS certifications are considered assets.
