Job Description

POSITION SCOPE: The Payroll Specialist is responsible for managing the companys payroll Canadian operations, ensuring accurate and timely processing of employee payroll, daily timesheet monitoring, expense reports, and providing training and support to internal business partners as needed. This role requires exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational and planning skills, and advanced proficiency in Excel. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES: Oversee all Canada timesheet functions and related activities, including punches, pay codes, overtime, and shift premiums (150 employees: ~100 salaried + 50 hourly ) Maintain and update the daily absence tracker for senior management. Generate and analyze payroll, overtime, and expense reports on a bi-weekly basis. Accurately process bi-weekly payroll while ensuring compliance with company policies and regulations. Verify and validate payroll data is accurate in Ceridian Manage expense reports for both Canada and the U.S. Booking payroll accounting entries month end such as payroll , vacation, bank time , RRSP WSIB, journal entries Balance sheet reconciliation for all payroll GLs (5-7 GLs) Verify and update benefit deductions, RRSP, DPSP, and WSIB (Canada) for accuracy in each payroll cycle. Submit RRSP, DPSP, and monthly filing Validate Anatolias vacation dollars aligns with vacation days Quarterly Payroll audit (onboarding/offboarding, wage scale, data accuracy, CPP, EI, quarterly T4 audit) Year-end payroll processing, including the preparation of T4s ,T2200, EHT , WSIB filing and other related tasks. Calculate attendance bonuses, COLA, and incentive payments for Canadian employees. Ensure payroll accuracy and compliance by maintaining meticulous records and documentation. Address employee inquiries regarding compensation, ensuring quick and effective resolution with professionalism and empathy. Assist US payroll such as expense report, inbox Perform other related duties as assigned. IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS: Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; payroll certification strongly preferred. Extremely sensitive with deadlines driven mentality Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, data analysis) are a must . Exceptional organizational, planning, and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently. Extremely high attention to detail and accuracy in all payroll processes. Minimum of 3-5 years of hands-on payroll processing experience, preferably in a non-unionized manufacturing or warehouse environment with a mix of hourly and salaried employees Experience working with Ceridian Dayforce payroll systems, understand the workflow in Ceridian and Payroll. Identifying Ceridian issue Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to interpret data and develop solutions. Ability to balance business needs with employee support, demonstrating professionalism and discretion. Effective communication skills to interact with internal and external stakeholders while maintaining confidentiality. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a dynamic People & Culture team, and warehouse WORKING CONDITIONS: Primarily office-based with frequent sitting and extended computer use. On-site presence required.
