VITALL is currently recruiting a Director of Software Engineering to join our productive team. The Director of Software Engineering will be responsible for leading, managing, and mentoring the team to design, build, and maintain scalable technology solutions. This role requires a deep technical background as well as leadership experience in managing cross-functional teams. Reporting to the COO, the Director of Software Engineering will play a critical role in shaping the technological vision of the company, ensuring alignment between business goals and the software development function. You are a leader, a problem solver, a strategic planner, and continue to build and code day-to-day, driving project delivery wherever and whenever needed. You have a breadth of experience, including both web and native app development, architecture and infrastructure devops, as well as direct experience and a keen interest in artificial intelligence and machine learning. To be successful in this role, you should be confident in managing technical teams while, at the same time, setting goals, budgets and timelines for various projects. We also expect you to be in charge of our integrations with external partners and oversee our software development lifecycle. Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing engineering team, fostering a collaborative and inclusive culture Set clear objectives and key results (OKRs) for the engineering team to align with company goals Collaborate with other colleagues to ensure seamless integration of engineering efforts across the organization Develop and execute an engineering strategy that aligns with VITALLs mission and business objectives Provide technical direction and decision-making to guide the team toward sustainable, scalable solutions Stay ahead of industry trends, technologies, and best practices to continuously improve the engineering processes and products Oversee all aspects of software development, including architecture, design, coding, testing, and deployment Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and with the highest quality Collaborate with product management to define technical requirements and develop innovative solutions Drive innovation within the engineering team by exploring and implementing emerging technologies and methodologies. Ensure robust security, performance, and scalability of the companys products and infrastructure Identify and mitigate technical risks, ensuring scalability, security, and sustainability Communicate engineering strategy, project progress, and technical challenges to executive leadership and stakeholders Serve as a technical advisor to the executive team, providing insights on the potential impacts of technical decisions as needed Ensure ongoing compliance with quality and industry regulatory requirements Participate in regular privacy and security training Adherence to company policies, following all privacy and security protocols Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field ~10+ years of experience in engineering roles, with at least 5 years in a leadership capacity ~ Proven track record of leading and scaling engineering teams in a fast-paced, priority-competitive, high-growth environment ~ Strong technical background with hands-on experience in software development, system architecture, and engineering management ~ Experience with cloud-based systems, microservices architecture, DevOps practices, and modern programming languages ~ Experience working with agile development methodologies and cross-functional teams ~ Knowledge of modern DevOps practices and tools Familiarity with cybersecurity practices and data privacy regulations, including audits (SOC2, TRA, etc) Previous experience in a startup or high-growth company VITALL changes that by providing an untethered personal health record platform that consolidates an individuals medical history, real-time data from wearable and smart health devices, as well as results from smartphone-based scans, displaying it all in a user-friendly, secure application. VITALL safely acquires, secures, and displays an individuals health information in a meaningful way, empowering their health journey and enhancing their medical emergency readiness.
