Position: People & Culture Lead As a 95-year-old, proudly Canadian family-owned business, we are seeking a thoughtful, proactive, and people-centered individual to steward the People & Culture function of our organization. This is a dynamic role that blends HR generalist responsibilities with a passion for nurturing the fabric of our company culturethrough events, engagement, and office life. Responsibilities: HR Generalist Scope Recruitment & Onboarding Coordinate job postings, screening, interviews, and offers Lead employee onboarding and orientation experiences Employee Records & Administration Maintain accurate and confidential employee records Assist with benefits enrollment and administration Track vacation, leaves, and absences Policies & Compliance Help maintain and update company policies and employee handbook Ensure compliance with employment legislation and internal standards Performance & Development Support the annual review process Assist with training and development planning Support managers in addressing performance concerns constructively Employee Relations Be a trusted point of contact for employee questions or concerns Foster open communication and a positive, inclusive workplace Culture & Office Support Culture & Engagement Lead employee engagement initiatives that reflect our company values Plan team-building activities, celebrations, and staff appreciation events Be a steward of our family-first, people-focused culture Internal & External Communication Coordinate internal newsletters, announcements, or team meetings Support leadership in sharing key messages in an engaging way Social Media and Marketing supporting, liaising with service providers as required Office Support & Operations Ensure the office is welcoming, functional, and well-stocked Organize office-wide activities, seasonal dcor, and shared spaces Coordinate with vendors and service providers as needed Well-being & Inclusion Encourage a healthy and supportive work environment Promote wellness initiatives and inclusive practices Professional Background 3+ years of progressive HR experience , ideally in a generalist capacity Experience supporting the full employee lifecycle: recruitment, onboarding, performance, employee relations, etc. Previous experience in a small to mid-sized business is plus where people wear multiple hats and culture is often very personal. Exposure to event planning or employee engagement initiatives (formally or informally). Experience working in family-owned or values-driven organizations is an asset. Specific Skills & Experience Comfort with HR administration tools or software (not actively using but need on the list of change management priorities) Knowledge of Canadian employment legislation (BC only) Demonstrated ability to manage or support office coordination or facilities Strong interpersonal communication experience being a go-to person or trusted sounding board for employees while executing on executive leadership team strategy and priorities Any past involvement with: Internal communications Team building Wellness or DEI initiatives Company culture or values programs
