The CompanyPurpose of the Position The Financial Risk Management team provides independent advice to senior management and the Board of Directors, and helps to support the oversight of market, credit and liquidity risks, and investment strategies across our group of companies. Key Responsibilities You will play a key role in supporting the development and management of the Companys enterprise-wide framework for financial risk by:Leading a team responsible for delivering quarterly reporting to various committees and regulatory bodies, as well as analytical support related to financial risk measurement methodologies and internal business strategiesReviewing credit, market, and liquidity risk reports and streamlining the reporting processApplying analytics to generate insights specific to financial risks and global capital markets and to help inform investment and risk strategyPreparing executive and Board-level material while effectively communicating technical conceptsSupervise coordination with cross-functional areas to ensure preparation of executive and Board-level material completed on time and to high degree of qualityPreparing for regulatory meetings, attending meetings, and coordinating resulting actions Evaluating hedging strategies and hedge monitoring for Great-West Lifecos product offeringsLeading key financial risk initiatives related to emerging financial risks, proposed acquisitions, and regulatory changeMonitoring business activities and external developments that would materially alter the company's risk profileBuilding strong understanding of internal strategies to measure and manage financial risks to effectively challenge and identify opportunities for enhancementsForming strong working relationships with internal stakeholders across our global business The Candidate Skills and Competencies Desirable skillsQualified Actuary, FSA (Fellow Society of Actuaries), FCIA (Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries), or other relevant degrees or a relevant professional body qualificationMinimum 10 years relevant work experienceKnowledge of life insurance product offerings, liability cashflow modeling, asset-liability management (ALM), IFRS 17 Excellent interpersonal and communication skillsParticipates effectively in cross-functional and cross-regional teamsProactive and self-directed with the ability to complete several tasks concurrentlyCoaching / mentoring junior co-workers and managing projects to ensure deadlines are met Presents complex technical concepts to a range of audiencesKeen eye for detail and superior analytical and problem-solving skillsAn asset to have knowledge of credit, market, and liquidity risk, investments, LICAT, and ORSA What's in it for you?Rapidly develop your problem solving, leadership, relationship-building, and communication skills Work on challenging and innovative projects in a dynamic, collaborative, and fast-growing teamCompetitive and comprehensive rewards program including bonuses and flexible benefits
