Location: Abbotsford, British ColumbiaPosition: Executive DirectorABOUT USThe BC Blueberry Council (BCBC) is the leading voice for over 600 growers of premium-quality highbush blueberries in British Columbia. Our mission is to support our growers by enhancing the viability and strategic development of the blueberry industry through promotion, research, industry education and relationship building. We work closely with growers, packers and processors, industry partners, researchers, and government agencies to enhance the viability of the sector and expand domestic and international market opportunities for BC blueberries. BCBC also provides a wide range of programs and services, including food safety support, market development initiatives, and on-farm assistance.THE OPPORTUNITYWe are seeking an experienced, forward-thinking Executive Director to lead our organization into its next phase of growth and impact. This is a unique opportunity to head a dynamic council and champion the continued success of BC’s blueberry industry.As Executive Director, you will be responsible for implementing the Council’s strategic vision, guiding day-to-day operations, and ensuring alignment with our mission and values. You will work closely with the Board of Directors, lead a dedicated team of staff and contractors, and serve as the public face of BCBC with stakeholders across industry and government.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESOversee financial planning, budgeting, and performance monitoringManage human resources and foster a collaborative workplace cultureLead the organization’s operational planning and implementationCultivate and maintain strong relationships with members, partners, and government bodiesRepresent BCBC in public and industry forums to advance key initiatives and policy prioritiesEnsure compliance with governance and reporting requirementsSupport the Board of Directors in policy development and organizational oversightIDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILEYou are a seasoned leader with a strong background in not-for-profit profit management and a passion for organizational success and community impact. You possess a strategic mindset, strong communication skills, and the ability to navigate complex stakeholder environments with diplomacy and confidence.You bring advanced knowledge and experience in:Strategic and operational leadershipFinancial and human resource managementGovernance and Board relationsStakeholder and government engagementNon-for-profit or member-based organizationsQualifications:A master’s degree in business administration or a related fieldAt least 3 years of progressive leadership experience in the non-for-profit sector or in a senior leadership position in a relevant environment.Strong political acumen and relationship-building skillsProven ability to lead both independently and collaborativelyExcellent written and verbal communication skillsExperience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial oversightFamiliarity with BC’s agriculture sector is a definite assetCOMPENSATIONBCBC offers a competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package.Annual salary range: $110,000 – $125,000.HOW TO APPLYIf you’re ready to make a lasting impact on BC’s agricultural landscape, we’d love to hear from you.
