The company:Our client is looking for a controller for a dental laboratory based in Oshawa.The controller will be responsible for owning the accounting and month end close process for a growing business.Cash flow analysis and reporting will be a key component to help shine the light on key metrics as the company scales.This controller will be a point person for the private equity company which purchased this company and plans to grow it across Canada.Expect a very flat corporate environment. One where they are currently developing the right systems and processes to ensure scalability in their systems. If this company has done one thing very well, it has been servicing customers. A culture with a client centred mindset is the reason the company has been successful over 35 years. Maintaining this culture while scaling will be one of the big challenges ahead for leadership.Responsibilities & DeliverablesMonth end closesCash forecasting and modellingBe the custodian of all accounting transactions in the system for accuracy and consistencySuggesting and implementing appropriate accounting controls and policiesPrepare a full documentation of GL flows, movements and accounting treatments and keep the documentation up to date as business evolvesOversee and lead daily financial accounting & controllership duties.Balance sheet accounts for labs (monthly)Exchange reconciliation (monthly), Year-end reconciliation of all accountsInventory count and adjusting entries reporting and review with managementHST reporting, WSIB reporting, Timely periodic closing as per management requestPreparation for external interim and YE auditReporting Sales by customer and category to the management teamControl major operational functions which affect accounting processes, User permissions, Items, Warehouse Locations, etc.Preparing financial reports, Analyzing financial data, Monitoring internal controlsParticipating in budgeting processes, Streamlining accounting functions, Coordinating audit processesCoordinate the provision of information to external auditors for the annual auditParticipating member of the companys management team.
