Job Description

Our client is a multi-disciplinary engineering firm with offices across Canada. We are looking for a creative, motivated, and experienced individual to join our clients team as a Senior Architectural Designer, based in Abbotsford.The successful candidate should have a strong visual communication skillset as well as an ability to develop, understand and interpret conceptual building design parameters. The candidate will promote design excellence and work collaboratively with head office staff. They will serve as the primary contact for clients, communicating progress and status throughout phases of the project.Responsibilities:Services architectural projects under the direct supervision of the project architect from pre-design services, design development, construction and managing the permit processCreates and executes project work plans or project execution plans and revises as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirementsProactively coordinates with the extended architectural team to ensure standards and performance are met to support project quality and executionDelivers day-to-day project tracking and communication with the client and project teamInterprets, reviews & contributes to the production and coordination of design drawingsConducts and creates reports for field reviewsManages aspects of client relationships and project service deliveryDirects and coordinates the project engineering teams for the execution of the design of projects in the DD phasesCreates budget and schedule management for the design team as requiredDevelops, tracks, updates, forecasts and modifies the project schedule and budget throughout all phases of the projectMaintains and performs project document control and procedures and ensures permit applications to AHJs are complete, including the requirement of resubmissionsConsults with designers/engineers when reviewing drawings and suggests value added or alternative construction methods or materialsCoordinates with the project team to develop and manage the project plan, objectives, schedules, budgets, constraints, and deliverablesQualifications:Bachelors degree or equivalent construction/design industry experience5-10 years experience in architectural designExperience with project and design in commercial and residential sectors (preference for residential)Knowledge of local building codes, bylaws, and standardsExperience with Revit 3D design software and rendering add-onsProficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, and Outlook)Strong communication and interpersonal skillsPreference given to registered architects or architectural educationKnowledge and experience in planning and design issues to be addressed in development permit processesExperience planning and monitoring budgetsExperience coaching and mentoring junior staffSkills in architectural design, permits and construction document productionAbility to interpret and manage time procurement of inter-disciplinary design documents
