Job Description

Position Overview: Broadway Subway Constructors General Partnership Inc is dedicated to delivering the Broadway Subway Project, a significant extension of the Millennium Line in British Columbia. This project aims to enhance transit accessibility and connectivity for communities, providing fast and efficient SkyTrain service to key areas including job centers, health services, and residential neighborhoods.The MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) Quality Coordinator will ensure that all MEP systems meet design, regulatory, and contractual standards, supporting project execution and timely delivery. The position requires technical expertise and quality oversight and plays a pivotal role in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of MEP systems while upholding the highest quality and safety standards on a world-class infrastructure project.Job Description: Quality Assurance and Control:Develop, implement, and maintain the MEP quality management system aligned with ISO 9001 standards and project-specific requirements.Plan, coordinate and tracking inspections, audits, and reviews to ensure compliance with drawings, specifications, and applicable codes, and ensure inspection, testing commissioning activities are carried out as needed with full traceability.Coordinate actions needed by non-conformances, including root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action tracking.Review and monitoring installation, subcontractors quality activities to ensure alignment with project quality management systems.Technical Coordination: Collaborate with design, engineering, and construction teams to address quality concerns and ensure alignment across disciplines during construction, testing and commissioning phase.Ensure integration of MEP systems with civil and architecture elements in coordination with contractors and consultants.Oversee the testing and commissioning of MEP systems, including validation of performance and integration of the MEP components. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain comprehensive quality documentation, including inspection and test plans (ITPs), method statements, Action plans, and records of quality checks in readiness to handover.Prepare and present quality reports for project stakeholders, MEP leads and Construction Quality Manager.Stakeholder Engagement: Liaise with contractors, suppliers, and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with contract, technical requirements, standards, code of practice, code compliance.Act as the primary point of contact for MEP-related quality issues, facilitating timely resolutions in coordination with construction team.Training and Development: Conduct training sessions for staff and subcontractors on quality procedures, standards, and best practices.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Ability to read drawings and blueprints,Familiarity with BIM coordination and software like AutoCAD, Revit, or similar tools.Thorough understanding of quality control and quality assurance standards and testing techniques per Canadian Standards.Ability to use specialized tools and machinery for inspection and testingExcellent communication skillsKeen eye for details, thoroughness and accuracy while performing tasksProblem- solving mentality and results- driven approach.Familiarity with ProCore or other construction management platforms.Knowledge of environmental and safety considerations related to MEP systemsExperience/ Qualifications: Bachelors degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or a related engineering field.5+ years of experience in quality assurance/control for MEP systems, with at least 2 years on large-scale infrastructure projects (preferably metro or rail).Proficiency in quality management systems, standards, and regulatory compliance (ISO 9001, NFPA, ASHRAE, etc.).Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.Effective communication and stakeholder management abilities.Knowledge of quality control / quality assurance programs applicable to work.Ability to determine acceptability and rejectable work based on assigned criteria.Previous quality control inspection experience.Familiarity with codes and standards applicable to Canadian building code and specific railway infrastructure activity.The ability to write detailed reports and demonstrate the computer skills necessary to access research and document results in the electronic medium are expected.Excellent analytical skillsStrong written and verbal communication skills.
