Job Title: General Manager (GM) Location: Onsite Ottawa, Ontario (with Required Travel to Retail Locations) Job Type: Full-Time About AutoShack AutoShack is a fast-growing automotive parts retailer and e-commerce brand with over 45 years of operational excellence. With plans to open new retail locations and expand our digital presence, were seeking a strategic, hands-on General Manager to lead critical areas of our operations, unify field and corporate teams, and help shape the companys future. The Role The General Manager will be responsible for overseeing key operational areas, including retail performance, catalogue coordination, logistics interface, customer service , and most importantly, team leadership and development . You will play a pivotal role in turning strategy into execution across departments. This is an onsite role based in Ottawa , with required travel to retail locations. We''re looking for a high-energy, adaptable leader who thrives in fast-paced environments someone as comfortable in the boardroom as they are on a store floor. Key Responsibilities Strategic Execution & Operational Alignment Lead execution across retail, catalogue, and customer service operations. Collaborate with logistics, IT, and e-commerce teams to ensure process alignment and operational cohesion. Establish, track, and optimize key performance indicators (KPIs) across departments. Retail Oversight & Expansion Support Oversee daily operations of retail locations to ensure consistency and profitability. Lead store openings by coordinating hiring, training, systems setup, and inventory management. Conduct regular visits to retail locations to coach managers, ensure adherence to SOPs, and drive store-level excellence. Catalogue & Product Coordination Ensure product catalogue accuracy across in-store and online channels. Coordinate with internal teams to maintain pricing, availability, and inventory integrity. Performance Monitoring & Optimization Monitor financial and operational data to identify performance gaps and improvement opportunities. Recommend and implement operational changes to enhance efficiency and customer satisfaction. Support budgeting, forecasting, and cost-control initiatives. People Leadership & Talent Management Directly manage a growing team of store managers and operational leads. Lead all aspects of people management: hiring, onboarding, performance evaluations, coaching, disciplinary actions, and terminations . Foster a high-performance culture focused on accountability, ownership, and continuous improvement. Build and maintain a strong leadership pipeline through mentoring and development programs. Education & Experience Bachelors Degree in Business, Operations, Retail Management, or a related field. 7+ years of progressive leadership experience in retail, logistics, or multi-unit operations. Experience working cross-functionally with teams across e-commerce, catalogue, and IT systems. Familiarity with NetSuite, Salesforce, or warehouse/inventory management systems (WMS) is a strong asset. Skills & Attributes Proven ability to lead and grow teams through effective performance management and hands-on leadership. Strong decision-making and analytical skills; comfortable working with metrics and operational data. Energetic and adaptable, with the ability to shift between strategic planning and on-the-ground execution. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; leads through influence and integrity. Willing and able to travel to retail sites
