Position: Chief Financial Officer (CFO)Supervisor: Chief Executive OfficerLocation: Flexible within CanadaHR Made EZ is working exclusively with a dynamic not for profit in the environmental resources area.JOB DESCRIPTION Reporting to the CEO, the CFO will be responsible for managing the financial operations of the organization, ensuring the organizations financial health and sustainability. This role will oversee all financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis and lead human resources and IT. The CFO will work closely with the CEO, executive team and Board of Directors to develop and implement financial and human resources strategies that support the organizations mission and goals.RESPONSIBILITIESFinancial:Manage and oversee all financial operations, including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow projections, and financial analysis.Lead the finance and admin team, providing guidance and mentorship to staff to enable them to improve efficiency and operations.Develop and oversee the annual budgeting process, working closely with senior leaders and team leads to develop realistic and achievable budgets and implement strategic plans and goals that support the organizations mission and vision.Develop and present financial reports to the CEO, Board of Directors and the Audit and Finance Committee, and provide regular updates on budget performance, forecasts, and financial risks while providing analysis and recommendations.Collaborate with the CEO and Audit and Finance Committee to develop and implement financial policies and procedures that align with the organizations values and strategic goals.Lead risk evaluation identifying key areas of risk across the organization including financial, operational and cybersecurity risk.Ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial records, including the general ledger, accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and other financial systems, as well as oversee payroll and benefits administration.Ensure compliance with all financial reporting and regulatory requirements, including tax filings and charity returns, audits, and other reporting requirements.Provide support to all teams with regards to reporting to multiple government grants.Manage relationships with external partners, including banks, auditors, finance consultants, and other financial service providers.Provide leadership and mentorship to the finance and admin team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.Administration:Lead the development of human resources policies and procedures that support staff development, evaluation, and ensure a culture of inclusion and belonging. Foster a positive work culture, promote professional development, and ensure compliance with labour laws and regulations.Oversee the recruitment, hiring and onboarding of staff, ensuring that the organization attracts and retains top talent.Evaluate HR processes, continually looking for areas of improvement including staff engagement and team culture.Oversee relations with legal service providers as it relates to compliance, contracting and litigation and support the team in contract management and legal review of key documents.Lead the development of strategic IT planning, working with team and external consultants in improving data infrastructure and efficiencies.REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION:University Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; MBA or CPA strongly preferred.At least 6 years of leadership experience in financial management; Human Resources, and experience working in the non-profit sector an asset.Proven track record of successful financial management, including experience developing and implementing financial strategies, developing and managing budgets, and overseeing financial reporting and compliance.Experience working with federal and provincial government contribution agreements and grants.Strong initiative and eagerness to find solutions.Strong leadership and management skills, with experience building and leading high-performing teams.Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate financial information to non-financial stakeholders.Passion for the mission and work of the organization, and an interest in mentoring others and working as a team.ADDITIONAL ASSESTSExperience with QuickBooks, Salesforce and Microsoft Office.Experience in the MS Office suite, database applications, online meeting platforms (Teams, Zoom).French language proficient.We thank all applicants for their interest, only those selected for an interview will be contacted.HR Made EZ and their clients welcomes all applicants.
