They are seeking an experienced Scheduler (Contract) to support their operations at a major energy companys refinery in Metro Vancouver Area. Reporting to the Project Controls Manager, the Scheduler will be responsible for developing and maintaining resource-loaded project schedules, supporting both planning and execution. This role requires close collaboration with project management, engineering, procurement, and construction teams to ensure schedule integrity and timely project delivery.ResponsibilitiesScheduling & Project ControlDevelop and maintain integrated, resource-loaded project schedules using Primavera P6.Capture all phases of the project lifecycle including engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning.Identify critical path activities, milestones, and dependencies; ensure alignment with project scope and execution plan.Track progress against the baseline schedule using progress tracking spreadsheets and earned hours.Regularly analyze schedule performance, identify variances, and implement recovery strategies.Conduct Time Impact Analyses (TIA) and what-if scenario planning.Align schedule data with cost estimates and forecasts for project reporting and decision-making.Provide weekly, bi-weekly, and monthly schedule reports for internal teams and clients.Maintain accurate documentation and approvals for schedule changes and scope deviations.Estimating & Bid SupportSupport estimating teams with schedule inputs during pre-bid and bid phases.Review drawings, blueprints, and specifications to estimate duration and resource requirements.Coordinate subcontractor schedules and inputs during execution.Safety, Quality & Client InterfaceEnsure schedule reflects safe work practices and compliance with safety standards.Verify scheduled activities meet project quality standards and requirements.Maintain transparent and proactive communication with clients regarding schedule progress, delays, and risks.Collaborate with project teams to meet or exceed client expectations for project timelines.QualificationsDiploma or degree in a related field, or equivalent education and experience.Advanced knowledge of scheduling software (Primavera P6 ) is required.Minimum of 10 years of experience in a construction environmentStrong analytical skills for timeline assessment based on estimates and project requirements.Blueprint reading experience is an asset.Excellent communication skills and relationship-building abilities with clients, subcontractors, and team members.High attention to detail, accuracy, and problem-solving capability.Strong planning, organization, and conflict-resolution skills.A team player with a proactive approach to achieving company goals and fostering collaboration.Ability to multitask and manage competing priorities.Advanced knowledge of applicable software (MS Office, particularly excel)Working Conditions:Combination of office work and site visits (client, supplier, or other facilities).May work in various weather conditions (heat, cold, wet, dry).Occasional extended hours to meet deadlines or shift work at client sites may be required.
