Position OverviewPOWERGROUP Resources, on behalf of our client Willowlee Sod Farms, is currently seeking skilled and experienced Controller to play a critical role in shaping our financial strategy and driving business success. If youre a hands-on financial leader who thrives in a collaborative and growing company, wed love to hear from you!The Controller shall hold responsibility for managing the overall financial operations of Willowlee Sod and will provide accurate information to the President and General Manager, including analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and preparing financial reports. The Controller will be responsible for directing and managing the company's accounting functions, including establishing and maintaining accounting principles, practices, and procedures as well as the preparation of financial statements and reporting to top management and externally. The Controller also maintains the company's accounting systems and implements changes as required.Who we are:Willowlee Sod Farm is located in Prince Edward County about 15 minutes south of the Bay Bridge. Leadership experience, with a track record of developing and mentoring teams.Strong understanding of federal, provincial, and local financial regulations.Experience managing financial reporting, audits, and compliance. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.Proven ability to lead strategic planning and managerial accounting initiativesAble to work well under pressure and meet set deadlines.Ability to interpret and implement company policies and procedures.Valid G driver's license.What you will do:Financial Strategy & PlanningLead the development of a structured financial forecasting model (quarterly and annual).Provide data-driven insights to support business growth and decision-making.Conduct 'what-if' scenario analysis to assess financial risks and opportunities.Business & Operational SupportCollaborate with operations and sales teams to optimize financial processes and pricing strategies.Identify and implement process improvements for greater efficiency.Oversee financial system implementations and upgrades.Financial Management & ReportingOversee all accounting functions, including journal entries, payroll, accounts payable/receivable, and reconciliations.Ensure accurate financial reporting by preparing statements, budgets, and year-end reports.Establish and enforce internal controls to maintain compliance with legal, regulatory, and company policies.Manage external and government audits with a focus on compliance and efficiency.Leadership & Team ManagementLead, mentor, and develop a team of finance professionals (Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Payroll).Foster a culture of continuous improvement within Willowlee.Other related duties and required or assigned.
