Legal Assistant Employment & Civil LitigationLocation: Downtown TorontoHours: Full-time, 40 hours/week | 9:00 AM 5:30 PMWork Model: Hybrid 4 days in office, 1 day remoteWe are currently recruiting on behalf of a reputable employment law firm located in downtown Toronto. The firm is seeking a Legal Assistant with a minimum of five years of experience in civil litigation and employment/labour law. This is an excellent opportunity to join a dynamic, fast-paced legal environment with strong long-term career growth potential.Must-HavesMinimum 5 years of experience in a law firm, specifically in civil litigation and employment/labour lawExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAbility to work independently, manage deadlines, and be highly reliableWhat They OfferCompetitive salaryDiscretionary year-end performance bonus (not guaranteed)Full benefits from day one (medical, dental, vision 80/20 coverage)3 weeks vacation, with flexibility to 4 weeksDynamic, collaborative team environmentKey ResponsibilitiesProvide executive-level administrative support to lawyers and enhance office effectivenessPrepare/transcribe, edit, format, and revise correspondence, memoranda, reports, litigation documents, forms, and other documentationProofread documents/correspondence, check for appropriate formatting, spelling, grammar, etc.Answer and direct phone callsAssist lawyers in the preparation and coordination of hearings and trialsRecord and monitor court appearance dates, pleadings and filing requirementsCoordinate service and filing of proceedings with agencies and courtsSchedule and coordinate discoveries, expert witnesses, mediations, or other court-designated hearingMonitor and follow-up with evidence gatheringMaintain an in-depth knowledge of legal terminology, court rules and procedures, as well as labour and employment terminology, where applicableEnter dockets; liaise with the Accounting departmentPrepare and submit expense reports for lawyersMaintain lawyers contact listsQualificationsMinimum 5 years of legal assistant experience in employment and civil litigationDiploma in Legal Assistant or Law Clerk programDeep understanding of Ontarios Rules of Civil ProcedureStrong organizational, proofreading, and multitasking skillsHigh attention to detail and excellent time managementProficiency in MS Office, Outlook, and GhostPracticeExperience with Philips SpeechExec dictation is an assetFamiliarity with CaseLines and One-Key for e-filingProfessional, proactive, and able to work independently
