Digital Application Engineering SpecialistOakville, ONSchedule: M-F, Professional Working DayContract: 12 monthsIntroductionThis operational position is responsible for the deployment and delivery of our client's InSight Asset Performance Management (APM) system. InSight is a proprietary digital solution that leverages advanced data analysis to enable water treatment professionals to make enhanced technical decisions, eliminate unplanned downtime, and decrease operational costs.Key Responsibilities: The primary duty of this candidate entails spearheading the implementation of InSight in both newly constructed and existing water treatment facilities. This role necessitates close collaboration with internal and external clientele to establish data logging and transmission protocols, tailored to the unique requirements of each individual project. Construct InSight accounts and establish lists of essential process parameters for the water filtration plant operations by utilizing project engineering documents, including Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), Control Logic Charts (CLCs), PLC code, and HMI code. Adhere to the DCS department's quality procedures and Veolia process asset models to guarantee that InSight account configuration aligns with the Veolia DCS standard. During commissioning, liaise with Veolia's Field Service Engineers (FSEs), site operators, and/or customer IT personnel to identify and troubleshoot network and cybersecurity-related issues. Collaborate with process analysts, technical support engineers, and PLC programming engineers to diagnose and resolve data logging issues during and post commissioning. Offer technical assistance to Veolia's internal and external customers post commissioning for the modification and enhancement of their InSight accounts, specifically pertaining to data and account adjustments. Monitor and maintain data connectivity and transmission on existing InSight accounts. Diagnose and resolve issues to restore transmission if needed. As a member of the comprehensive project execution team, the candidate is expected to collaborate with various functional teams within the enterprise, including but not limited to the process analyst, sales, application engineering, process engineering, electrical engineering, automation engineering, and commissioning personnels. Represent Veolia in project planning and review meetings with the customer's IT and network security team to discuss InSight data logging and transmission methods, and address any concerns related to cybersecurity. Proactively present work efficiency-related continuous improvement suggestions to the DCS team. Upon acceptance of the idea, design, execute, and implement the proposed improvement.Requirements Bachelor's Degree or College Diploma in Automation, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Information Technology from an accredited university or college. Strong customer service and/or technical support experience is required. Experience in assisting customers with troubleshooting data logging and/or Internet connectivity issues is required. Working knowledge of connectivity platforms such as OPC servers and industrial networking protocols is necessary. Proficient in Windows and Linux operating systems. Professional experience in reading and understanding ladder logics in PLC and/or HMI codes (Rockwell, GE, and Siemens). Ability to comprehend network architecture drawings, electrical engineering drawings, and Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs). Proficiency in SCADA networks and Industrial networking protocols, including but not limited to TCP, UDP, TCP/IP, Modbus, EthernetIP, and Profinet. Fundamental understanding of engineering units and conversions. The ability to work on and manage multiple projects with conflicting priorities is an essential requirement. Knowledgeable in Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle database. Experience working with Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and data analytics. Experience working with a system integrator.
