QUALITY ASSURANCE MANAGER Location: In Person / Hybrid Waterloo, ON Full-time About Us CSMC is a space and defence company focused on developing breakthrough technologies to meet humanity''s most pressing needs. This is a second-floor opportunity (on a space elevator) for those seeking to build the future of clean, compact energy. About the Role Were seeking a Quality Assurance Manager to lead the development and implementation of our Quality Management System (QMS) and ensure our nuclear systems are delivered with uncompromising safety, reliability, and regulatory compliance. Youll work directly with the COO, Reactor Engineering team, and external stakeholders to ensure that QA processes meet the rigorous standards expected in the nuclear sector, while adapting to the fast-moving demands of an early-stage environment. Experience in Canadian nuclear quality frameworks (e.g., CSA N286, CSA N299) is strongly preferred. Candidates from other regulated industries pharmaceutical, aerospace, or defence with robust QA backgrounds will also be considered. Key Responsibilities Design and implement a fit-for-purpose Quality Management System from the ground up Ensure compliance with Canadian nuclear regulatory standards and liaise with organizations such as CNSC, AECL, and CNL Conduct internal audits, supplier assessments, non-conformance investigations, and continuous improvement initiatives Develop documentation, records, and processes aligned with industry best practices and controlled goods requirements Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, manufacturing, and regulatory teams to embed quality throughout the lifecycle Support regulatory filings and third-party certification efforts Build and lead a growing QA function within the company Qualifications & Skills 7+ years experience in Quality Assurance or QMS leadership in highly regulated industries Direct experience with nuclear sector QA/QC in Canada is preferred Experience with Controlled Goods Program (CGP) and eligibility for security clearance is an asset Solid knowledge of CSA N286, N299 , ISO 9001 , or NQA-1 frameworks Experience with documentation systems, audit processes, and regulatory engagement Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills Ability to thrive in a startup environment and move through complex, non-linear problems Passion for space, energy, and applied science What We Offer A high-impact role at the ground floor of a mission-driven startup Opportunity to shape the quality culture of one of Canadas most ambitious clean energy companies Work with leading scientists and engineers in nuclear, space, and defence Competitive salary, equity participation, and growth opportunities A collaborative team that values integrity, imagination, and resilience Join Us We have an affinity for diverse people and unconventional thinkers.
