SGH Design Partners is looking for a full-time talented Intermediate Interior Designer to join our Toronto, Vancouver and Halifax Studios. At SGH, Intermediate Designers play a key role in driving projects forward with the support and direction of Senior Designers. They are trusted collaborators who contribute to the design process from concept through execution, helping to ensure each project meets the highest standards of creativity and delivery. Your day-to-day responsibilities include working closely with the team to develop thoughtful, well-resolved design solutions while building strong client relationships through clear communication and follow-through. You are expected to proactively flag any design, technical, scope, or client concerns to Senior Designers or Principals to help ensure smooth project progression. Strong time management is essential, as Intermediate Designers are responsible for meeting both individual and team productivity targets across all phases of a project. Collaborate closely with Senior Designers and team members to deliver cohesive, well-executed design solutions Produce drawings and documentation across all project phasesfrom concept and schematic through construction Prepare design presentations, mood boards, and material selections Participate in concept development all size projects; create concepts of midsize project, participate in concepts for larger and more complex projects with minimal supervision Report weekly to Senior Designer or Team Leader on project progress, as assigned Coordinate with consultants, contractors, and suppliers throughout the design process Participate in site visits, construction reviews, and design presentations to clients Use Ajera software to manage personal time logs Minimum of 7 years of experience in interior design A degree or diploma from a recognized school of Interior Design/Architecture/Architectural Technology Corporate workplace or commercial sector design experience is preferred Experience in hospitality design is a plus Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Revit and SketchUp Experience using Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign is beneficial Experience in 3D rendering and visualization An understanding of the local Ontario building codes Strong communication skills in English Actively participate in the design dialogue within the studio, contributing ideas and insight across project phases Support and guide junior team members, helping to foster strong design thinking, technical execution, and professional growth Work as integral part of a team unit; Contribute to the refinement of internal systems and workflows that enhance design quality, technical precision, and client experience Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, and suppliers to support project success and encourage repeat business Problem solving skills (design issues with client, site issues) Design Qualifications High level understanding of related design disciplines with the ability to read and coordinate interior design drawings Contribute to concepts and design strategies that exceed client expectations with meaningful impact. Experience in concept development of all sized projects. Understanding and execution of project summary and programming High level understanding of related design disciplines with the ability to read drawings and coordinate them with interior design drawings Prepare architectural drawings, specifications and details with minimal supervision on small to mid-sized projects Direct information gathering and preparation of related documentation throughout all stages from pre-design to project close out. Understanding of and ability to apply and coordinate applicable building and accessibility codes Develop furniture budgets and prepare furniture specifications, including tender analysis Prepare project documentation (minutes, reports, etc.) Conduct site visits, prepare related deficiency reports, expedite work Familiar with local building codes, accessibility standards, and sustainable design frameworks (WELL, Fitwel, LEED) Canadian project experience required Were a team that values curiosity, collaboration, and creative thinking.
